180HP engine mount???
I am rebuilding a 54 B model that has the Avcon 180hp conversion. I want to replace the rubber bushings located between the firewall and the mount. Are these OEM or specific to the conversion??? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Tony

Re: 180HP engine mount???
The rubber bushings are standard Cessna bushings. They should be replaced if worn out. The mount bolts will start to contact and elongate the holes through the firewall due to engine movement if not replaced.
There are also stock Cessna solid aluminum bushings originally for seaplanes. Many folks, especially with higher horsepower engine conversions, have gone to the solid bushings because they provide a rigid bolt-up of the motor mount to the firewall, they don't wear out, and they keep the bolts from touching the firewall.

Might want to talk to, rather listen to, Harry Delicker at Delair. 559-784-9440
Belive he has purchased the AVCON conversion. He also has more Cessna history on the top of his head than most of us could ever read about. Be ready to listen, it is usually well worth it.
My plane does NOT have any bushings between the firewall and the motor mount.
Only has the Dynafocal mounts.
Came that way when I bought it.
But then, mine has the hard to document, older, "bush" format. NO one at 'bush' will answer the phone.
I once thought about having Harry convert mine over to the Avcon, but that was before I went through the "trial" of installing a Lyc. on a Dynafocal mount. Once was enough, but had to do it twice, since we left the large metal spacers out of the left side first time.

Re: 180HP engine mount???
Harry did not buy out Avcon. He used to be an Avcon dealer for years and then developed his own STC. That is why the two conversions are so similar.
Get rid of the old rubber bushings and install the aluminum ones, they are way better.

Shawn.
You wouldn't happen to have a part number for the solid aluminum bushings?

I don't right off hand. I installed a set earlier this winter on another 170B. Someone posted those P/N's a year or two ago on here. When I ordered mine I just did a search on our forum until I found that thread. I'll see if I can't find the numbers for you though.

Tim, I think what you're looking for is:
0751004-1 BUSHING
(List Price: $ 38.70) Stock Available $ 30.96 (EA)
0751004-2 PAD
(List Price: $ 20.90) Stock Available $ 17.77 (EA)
these would replace the stock:
0550155 BUSHING
(List Price: $ 6.56) Stock Available $ 5.58 (EA)
0550154-2 PAD
(List Price: $ 3.49) Stock Available $ 2.97 (EA)
the pricing is from CessnaParts.com
I don't think I've ever seen a Cessna floatplane w/o metal bushings. I replaced the rubber ones on my 170 at 1st annual, even though it's just a landplane. Tying the mount and firewall together strengthens the whole assembly.

Re: 180HP engine mount???
The rubber bushings between the firewall and the mount are not AVCON. They are Cessna parts. I have the AVCON conversion in my 172 td. Also, Harry hasn't purchased the AVCON conversion stc from Bob Williams. Harry has his own STC. You still have to deal with trying to get a return call and even harder for follow through on AVCON parts. Be glad the bushing aren't AVCON parts.

Re: 180HP engine mount???
Does anyone have a parts book reference for the aluminum bushings? I can't find them anywhere in my book from univair or my electronic copy from microtools. Looks like the above mentioned part numbers for them are missing a replacement for washer 0550153-1 or is this washer reused?
Re: 180HP engine mount???
I believe they are listed with the floatplane components.
Re: 180HP engine mount???
Alright folks, I was able to track down the aluminum bushings in a 180 parts book. The early 180's used the same rubber bushing so I am assuming that the aluminum bushings listed in the 180 book as floatplane only will be the same dimensions. Parts ordered and now waiting ever so patiently for the UPS man.
