I had the privilege of spending 3 days at Galesburg as well. Attached are some then and now pics:

In 1971 we attended the first AAA fly in at Blakesburg Iowa. For my 8th birthday, my parents arranged a Stearman ride with Tom Lowe. It was my first biplane ride and I still remember the low pass and pull up at the end of the runway. It is one of those aviation memories that has always been with me.

Last week, 40 years to the day, I was reacquainted with Tom and the same Stearman I had the ride in as a young boy. We flew again, but this time the tables were turned. He put me in the back and with no radio and no intercom I gave Tom an hour long ride complete with steep turns, stalls, slow flight and wing overs. We came back and I did 6 patterns - my first Stearman landings. Thanks, Tom for a great birthday!

these are pictures of me and my father after each ride. More great aviation memories!

40 years in between with the same pilot and plane. What are the chances of that?

Great story, Bruce!

Dad got his Stearman to Galesburg every year he owned it. (except 1982, the year he bought it... after Galesburg  ), by my count 23 consecutive times. I had the pleasure of attending the Biplane Fly-in in Bartlesville, OK, then the next week Galesburg, with him in 1989. Good times, good memories... :)
