Good day
Can someone please confirm the prop bolt torques on an 0-300A (8 bolt) for me. My bird is a 1953 170B, sn 25966, C-FZRT. In the book I have, I have found 250 inch pounds, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that there was a changeup. Any help appreciated
Thanks
Gary

Gary,

Go to the top of the Hanger forum and use the search this forum box. Put in the word prop a space and then the word torque i.e. "prop torque" and you will get a bunch of info on prop torque and bolt sizes. I just went through it with a O-300-B. We compromised and used 300 inch pounds as it seemed some said 250 and some said something like 350.

Check out the search.

What I did was went to the manufacturers website and used those torques.

McCauley SB 227B applies:
Fixed pitch props are torqued according to bolt size:
Bolt size, foot pounds, inch-pounds
3/8........30 to 25.........360 to 300
7/16......45 to 40......540 to 480
1/2.......65 to 55.......780 to 660
