Tail U-Bolt

Post by Jim Collins »

Hey All,
I am looking for a lead on where to get the tail wheel leaf spring U-Bolt #0510000-32 as mine is a bit bent up

I tried Univair, Stoddard, Yinling, Controller, and Ebay to no avail.

I suspect this may be a hard to find item.

Any help would be great

Thanks

I'd check with Air Repair. They carry a ton of L-19 parts. The L-19 part number seems to be 0642133 or 0642154, but I bet there is a good chance that it is exactly the same as the 170 part.

George,

I may have been too fast in ordering.

I looked at the part number you gave for Aircraft Spruce and that is the main spring. I was asking about the U-Bolt.

Does the L-19 U-bolt #0642133 fir our birds? Because that is what I ordered.

Thanks

Jim, yes, the L-19 U-bolt is tha same as the 170B one. You can order it from Air Repair using either the number you used or the 170B part number that you first identified in your post. A few years ago I replaced the one on my ‘52 170B with one that I purchased from Air Repair using those part numbers.

Mine broke about 20 years ago and while I was starting to go down the rabbit hole to find one I used some aluminum flat bar, one on top and one on the bottom, drilled holes for two bolts to go one on each side. I think I remember doing some dressing out on the pieces to make them a fit perfect and work as good as a U-bolt. They did...and they are still on there...

I got a replacement from air repair last year. No problem.
