Wheelpant Hardware

Post by Jim Brown »

Hi guys! I'm the newbie here and have searched this subject in archives but did not find the full answer to my question. I have recently bought a C170A which has 172 type wheelpants & backing plates. I notice that Aircraft Spruce sells replica fiberglass pants, but does not list backing plates specifically for C170's. Will my backing plates work on the replica pants? If not, what have other guys done to mount the replica's? Thanks in advance for replies. :?:

My understanding of the fiberglass pants is that they do NOTcome precut/drilled for the landing gear/brakes/backing plate. Since you would have to do this yourself, it would seem to me that you could use the 172 backing plates provided they don't interfere with the fiberglass pants.

Anyone out there install these before? Do I have my recollection correct?
