My 55 170b rudder pedals have become very worn at the primary pivot point. The holes are ovalized and need to be addressed.
From research here I see some references of bushing these. See photo. Is bushing these locations possible?
I'm seeing some used pedals available online, but not much guarantee that they are in any better shape.

Where you have circled is exactly where most do wear and are usually bushed with simple doublers (about the size of a silver-dollar for those old enough to have any in their pocket) riveted.

I found that my pedals were significantly worn (though not dangerously so) on the left side of the airplane, and nearly pristine on the right. While restoring the whole assembly, I just swapped them.
Yes, looking at any airplane you can ascertain the health of the pedals (and the aircraft) at a glance much like looking at the pedals of a car to guess at true milage. Worn pivots on pedals will cause the pedal to tilt about their horizontal axis. Often the Pilot’s R/H pedal will tilt to the left as well, the pedals amount of “ clatter” when moved back and forth is another obvious indicator of the amount of wear present.
I would be scrounging around looking for replacements, even dismantling pedals (rivets) to find parts to restore a single pedal to serviceable status.
I found and install a set of pedals from a C180 and they look much more modern and not as slippy as the originals. Easy 337 minor change under CAR3 ref Cessna drawings for the early 180.

If you prefer the “modern look” then later pedals might be an option, but they also will wear similarly.
I like the originals and would never replace my round tail with a swept or squared-off one.

I like the original pedals as well. I'll run this by my mechanic. Hopefully he'll be ok with it... I don't suppose this is in the 100 series repair manual or similar?
Thanks for the all the info. It's not as nice as the turned "top hat" bushing/doublers that one of the other members made, but this should buy these pedals a few more decades. I also spent about 10 hours crammed under the pedal with a toothbrush and solvent cleaning the rest of the control and brake assemblies. The sheet metal work was infinitely more enjoyable.
