Planning to paint the registration number on the wings of my '55. Anyone have the size, style and placement of the letter & numbers?

I don't have the specs but when my wings were stripped, the original N-Numbers on the wings were visible.

Cessna painted the original numbers and left the wings bare. Differential corrosion etched the wing skins but there was no corrosion under the numbers leaving them plainly visible and easy to duplicate. If you still have original wings, the numbers are probably still there.

Thanks to everyone who provided some info for me about the registration numbers on the wing. I have located a Cessna Drawing #0500020 for the paint scheme on the '55 model airplane. In the notes section, a entry is listed the says "For location & size of registration numbers, refer to 0400115." Has anyone seen that drawing? I didn't come across it in the files that were in the site here. Thanks.

My airplane, N147YS has the original scheme. The numbers/Letters on the wing are 20” tall and 3” width to the characters.

George,
Many thanks for dimensions of registration numbers & "N". This will help me return it to a look closer to how it would have left Wichita many years ago.
