Thanks, Arash. We will probably be less than an hour from Dearborn Heights. Karen has family in Ann Arbor and Chelsea, and I'm looking at Livingston County Airport (KOZW) in Howell to base out of.

On the return from Bardstown, we stopped in Marshall (KRMY). There's a golf course right by the field and their bar looked well taken care of. The whole area looked like a great spot in the summer.

Miles, you can join my former EAA chapter in Howell, Chapter 55. I was a member there when I lived in East Lansing, until 1981. Say hi from me! (Nobody will remember me, I'm sure.)

Today's radar pic will explain why I will never live up nawth. I can only imagine how many clothing-optional beaches are up there. (I'd post a pic of Hippie Hollow on Lake Travis on New Years Day but we'd be shut down by the Lord.)

The once-a-half decade snow we get down south is all the reminder I need about why I live down here.
(That and the right to bare arms.)

Aw, shucks, this ain't bad! It's a balmy 17 degrees here! We actually do use beaches, in the summertime. I'm sure there's no reason we couldn't have clothing-optional beaches, except we've got better sense up here!

Hmmmm.... that's still within striking distance of Chelsea and Ann Arbor. I've done some cost of living research, and find that it gets cheaper the further away from Detroit you get, but I'm afraid Karen will burn up the difference in gas going to visit her family.

I've been in contact with Bruce Sdunek, a TIC170A member based at Howell, and he says the hangars on the south side of the airport are owned and rented out by EAA Chapter 1056. I'll have to do some research on Chapter 55.

My mistake! EAA55 is located in Mason, not Howell. It's been a while!

Mason looks like it would be a great second Saturday breakfast destination!

I remember a Beaver among all the 170's on Merrill Field at the Anchorage convention in 2000.

And it was the nicest Beaver that I have seen. Seems we nicknamed it a C-170 D

We flew from Stuart FL to Marathon FL for a couple stress free days. We went the long way down the coast and around Miami and followed the keys the rest of the way. This is a great example of why I own a 170. We stayed at Lime Tree Bay Resort. All around a great trip!!!

Does the engine sputter much when you fly upside down like that?

That's strange, the first time I looked at that post, the pictures were right side up.
