Re: New member
Thanks for the welcomes.
I'm currently working on posting a photo of my plane. I'm having trouble with Imgur.com where I have posted photos for forums before. Their mobile site dose not work well and my IPad will not go to their full site. I get home from work tomorrow and will post a photo then. That should answer the Red Green thing.
My mixture has the metal spring clip on the panel. As in Bruce's photo. It looks original as it is the same faded color as the other nobs. It might be a kink in the cable, notching as it moves in the sheath. How do you distinguish a ratcheting from smooth cable?
Bruce I'm a utility guy and currently work for Erickson Air Crane. I mostly do wild-land fire fighting work. For Erickson I fly the Skycrane, but most of my time is in Bell mediums and Astars.
Red or Green stay tuned.....

It's got a history. Rebuilt twice, once in the early 50's and again in the 70's. But it's airworthy and paid for. And it is red so it's got to be fast!

Welcome Waterboy!
Nice bird! You'll enjoy and learn lots - both from the flying and from this group. Of course we're a bit skewed in our thinking based upon the interaction of another roto-wing flyer in this group!
Now - if you'd only been smart like me and bought a blue/gray airplane you could have avoided all that red/green guff!
Glad to have you aboard!

Kyle, when I see a picture of your fine looking grey/white plane first thing that comes to mind is I must be looking at a B&W image of a nice GREEN 170.

Yep! (And I even see someone added STOL leading edges so it could slow-down a bit if necessary to allow green ones to keep up! Nice!)Waterboy wrote:Well here it is. Thanks to Aryana for instructions on direct photo posting.

Did you have the Sky Crane to Oshkosh? I loved the water pickup system.

Saw one of your Skycranes at Grand Prairie (GPM) several months ago. It had the ferry tanks. One heck of a big bird. Bet it burns a lot of kero.

Re: New member; Mixture control
Hi guys,
I was able to get a handle on my mixture control issue. It is the original control. I found a few notches in the control cable where it exits the sheath. Looks like vibration wear. I really liked the way it would go one notch at a time so I will replace it with a ratcheting control as suggested.
thanks again!
