Light weight firewall battery and box STC

Post by mod cessna »

I have seen a few of these on 180-185 but did realize they had it approved on 170 A&B now. Has anyone installed one yet on their fun 70? Looks like STC SA02333AK-D was issued back in January.

$200.00 for the batt. brings it right up there to too terribly much! $700.00 is a lot for a new batt & box I guess its time to hone some of the old sheet metal skills & make myself a new box & use the rest of the current gil G25 up.Course Spruce has Batt. boxes & racks for $130.00 to $190.00 maybe thats cheaper than building one esp since they are already powder cooated & ready bto go.

So it turns out that the batt. box has a new STC but the odyssey batt. doesn't have an STC for the 170 just the pa18 & 19.

Zreyn,
Devcon is a wonderful material......if you need to fix, maybe several holes, it works really well.....if you have structural problems....you have the knowledge to fix that...But you may be able to mix the two....just a thought ..Brad

Good idea Brad, I've been gone from the airlines for some years now & sometimes forget about all those magic compounds that are available.Devcon aluminum putty will work just fine in this case.

Saw this thread in my research and wondered if anyone has went with this batt box and light weight battery yet. I am needing a new battery and saw the price is down to $380 for the box and $150 for the battery. Anyone have any opinions on it? I know some one does.

I did also. The STC does not state a specific battery brand. I had no problems with the Fed. The disclaimer is though that even though it is an STC, I completed it with another mod that needed field approval so I bunched them together and it all got field approved. Now it doesnt matter what battery I use! Feeling 10lbs. lighter though. I mean the battery install that is. D
