When Are you Going to OSH

Post by W.J.Langholz »

We won't be able to make the covention....to much hay to put up yet, however sounds like alot of you are going to OSH ...just wondering when you will be there and maybe we can make that.
The new "RED PLANE" :D can make it there in 2.5 hours so hope to slip over when most of you are there. Camp under the wing. We were thinking of not coming into OSH but some place close like Y50 and hitch a ride in.
What do you guys think? Is it hard to fly in say on that Sat or Sun (24 or 25)

Sat or Sun arrival is certainly doable. Unless you get lucky & catch a lull, it will be busy, but by following the notam arrival procedures its not bad. Hopefully a bunch of the 170's that plan to park/camp in the vintage camping slots for 170's will be coming in on Sat (24th) from the convention. That is my plan. Hope you can make it!

Work issues for me prohibit the convention. :(

Becky and I plan to head to OSH to camp with the group on Saturday a.m.

I'd camp at OSH! Too many things to do and see and it's fun to be there. Airshow and Theater in the Woods, and people and STUFF!

It's not too bad going in. Go early. Read the NOTAM. Be organized. Listen early. Stay off the radio. Have lots of fuel.

Call me if you wish to talk or link up.

I think Saturday is easier than Sunday as there is a little less traffic in the morning. I suggest you read the notam and try to get in before the mass arrivals. Some of the type clubs tie up the airspace and cause holding to be done until they all get in. The notam gives their times of arrival so try to get there before them. It can be done, a little nerve wracking the first time, helps to have someone else in the plane helping, need to read and understand the notam. A lot of fun and satisfaction after you have done it.

I'll be there thurs the week before, I like to volunteer for the preshow. Depending on the weather of course, however last year I was a day late due to weather, this year I may op for a earlier arrival.

Normal plan is to leave Saturday 24th or Friday depending on weather. Be up there early in the afternoon.

It says that you need to be a EAA member to camp....are all you guys EAA members?
I read the NOTAM 2x's now all the way though and it doesn't seem like it would be too difficult, just no talking and keep your eyes peeled eh 8O
