The subject of loaning tools came up on another thread, so I thought I'd throw this out there. These guys are just up the road from me and they rent aircraft tools: http://www.hangartoolbox.com/Default.aspx. They have some pretty uncommon stuff for piston and turbine engines. I am fortunate that I have a mechanic on the field who has been there since the 60's, and if he doesn't have it, it doesn't exist. But if you don't have access to someone like that, a rental outfit could save you a ton of money or time, as some of the tools are fabricated specialty tools.
I don't have any first-hand experience with them, so this is by no way an endorsement, just an FYI. They're probably not the only ones doing this either. Google is your friend.
