Re: glare shield ?
I made my “removable “ glare shield out of Lexan. If made of another material it could upset my compass plus I had a heap of lexan in the hangar . I glued a a number of A4 sheets of paper together and laid it on top of the instrument panel to get the shape and size . Paper was cut and checked for fitting . Then the paper was used as a pattern for the lexan to be cut for shape. The lexan was then placed into position and the grab handles that are built in top of the instrument are marked out on the lexan and then cut out and finished smooth edging. A square hole was marked out for the compass also. Black vinyl is then glued to the surface of the lexan. To hold in position Velcro strips are added to the under surface to hold in position. I have 3 1/2 ins over hang. Note.. lexan can be folded in a lip on the edge that faces you and foam added. All done without heat .

Psss, don’t tell any body but I glued a strip of red Led lights under the removable glare shied and connected to a push pull plug into aircraft power. It’s sorta legal ‘pushpull plug’’ etc and during a ramp check nobody said anything . Must be legal.
The LEDs work really great .
