I do not have a complaint about trim tab Jack Screw on C170B s.n. 26433
It has received very little attention. What to do?
Can I lube the jack screw without removal and disassembly?
IPC gives info on this component.
What should owner / operator be doing on a regular basis?
LPS 2 or Pastey grease?

Re: Trim Tab Jack Screw
I use a light spray grease. Run from end to end as you lube.

Re: Trim Tab Jack Screw
25 years ago I was taxying out in my 206 for a ride into town rather than drive... since I had to fly a friend to So. TX that afternoon. On the taxy-out I set trim tab...or tried to...and it wouldn't move. The airplane had been flown only a week previously.
The screwjack was frozen solid on a warm day.
Taxied back to the hangar and removed the trimjack, disassembled it and found it dry inside... no lube at all.
I cleaned it with WD40 …(what else!)… lubed it with ordinary marine trailer bearing grease...and it worked perfectly for the next 3 years until I sold the airplane.
It's not difficult to remove it and to disassemble, clean, inspect, lube and reinstall. Takes about an hour total. (Don't move the trim wheel meanwhile)
