OK, so it wasn't today, but yesterday... Flew home from SoCal on an absolutely perfect day for flying. Went back with my Mrs. and "the wee one" to visit family for the weekend. Low temps, smooth as glass air, and no wind. Doesn't get much better.

AMEN! KPRB-KTSP, shirt-sleeves at 7500ft with vents not yet re-installed, air smoother than high-speed rail, and 100-mile-plus visibility!

I felt so good when we got down, that I de-oiled her belly ASAP instead of waiting until oil change time.

Here's me yesterday, buying lunch ;)

Gorgeous day yesterday!
Towards the evening, it was so clear and so smooth, we didn't want to come down.
So, we kept flying slow circles over the bay.

My 4 year old wanted to go flying, then the 9 year old wanted to go too. So, daddy and the boys went to lunch in Shelbyville TN. They think its so cool to taxi up and have a crew car waiting. Makes them feel really special and cool.

The 4 year old holds a better heading than I do.

Love it when the kids show an interest in flying. Makes me feel good.
Regards,

Patrick

The baggage area is from Selkirk, it's fiberglass and is just for light bulky items. by the time the job was done the cost was 10 AMU's. Having the baggage door was a big help.

I put a update of my 48 on the site on Oct 31 /11. I have made up a photo album of the airplane from before the accedent and all the steps that it has taken to get it to where it is today. I was going to see if the pictures could be scanned and put onto a disk, if so then I will try to tell the complete rebuild story.

Dang, you're a serious overachiever! Looks great! It's taken me about that long just to clean, etch, and epoxy prime one wing. Also had to make a new aux. rear spar (in front of the aileron), replace some nose ribs and improperly spliced stringers. Are you matching existing paint for the Serge Blue or have you found an automotive paint code that matches it? I painted my wingtips and stationary instrument panel Serge Blue today. The Imron paint was a computer match.

Changed the air filter, installed the winter front, took her flying on an absolutely wonderful MN evening, wiped down the bugs, and then almost shed a tear after returning home as I had not yet turned the 170 calendar from October to November. Sad to see that month go! I was a bit partial to Miss October. But Richard's bird is sure nice to look at as well!

Gary the paint match was from the last paint job in 1959. I don't know if it was the exact Serge Blue but it was a computer match. Thanks

I installed my brand new Hartzell 80 inch prop and spinner/balancer assy, plus my new prop governor. I had sent mine into Warner Propellor awhile back for overhaul and a new hub to make the repetitive inspection go away. But my blades were to thin to overhaul so.............12000.00 later, all done. OUCH! But I will say that she sure is happy now!

I added a set of shoulder harnesses to the co-pilot's seat. I told my 11 year old we need to go test fly the new harness. She declared she got the left seat and away we went. Scouted landing sites on the now exposed islands in Lake Amistad. Too bad laws don't allow airplanes of ANY type on the lake or shoreline. Gave some more instruction to my budding pilot and after a couple patterns we put her in the hangar, wiped her down until tomorrow! :D

I took her out to stretch her wings and lift me into the wild haze of the day. Went to Smoketown for a good breakfast and was all by myself in the pattern. As I passed LNS - Lancaster, PA, I thought about my engine down problem 2 yrs ago. It was a good flight.
