Private Pilot Spotted person in the water

Young ballerina dancer reported missing. Nov 14th.

Her unattended car was located at Mark Twain lake Highway 107 boat ramp. Car was locked personal effects cell phone inside.
Car keys located Outside vehicle apparently intentionally placed on top of driver side front wheel.


A private pilot flying over the lake in his airplane spotted "what he believed to be a person in the water."

Highway patrol recovered the body identified as Maria Stroik a 23 year old professional dancer with the St Louis Ballet.

Life is so precious.

I'm sorry if this isn't appropriate or sensitive, but... how did the pilot check the car and everything, did the police do it after the pilot gave them the general location of the body and car, or did he land/fly at an extremely low altitude as to see what happened?

I would believe the pilot only suspected he saw a person and the police confirmed it.
