Lubricate Tachometer Cable

Post by MoonlightVFR »

Tach woes can present diff symptoms.

Swap old style mech tach with new digital tach . Still have sick tach.
I say stick out your tonque and Say AH.

New digital tach - presents "dancing digits" -

One solution was Remove new tach , Lubricate old tach cable - reinstall old tach - works like new!

If it presents a squawking squeal it make NOT be the tach - lube the cable.! Bliss

What has your C170 tach taught you?

The ideal lube for a tach cable according to the folks at Keystone Instrument repair in Lockhaven Pa., is petroleum jelly such as Vaseline. It lubricates, stays in place ie won't flow to the bottom of the cable and does not get thicker in the climate your likely to have your 170. And it was discovered in Titesville, Pa. What's not to like about it.

Vaseline is also good for adult bedroom play. Put it on the door-knob.
(Keeps the children out.)
