Steve, thanks for that thread. That is exactly the info I was looking for!
OP, Dave Eby is my personal aviation hero and role model. He has sold the 140, the Thorpe and now has a gorgeous 90 hp Cub. He is 6 months from completing a Texas Sport Cub/PA-11. He flies on a Light Sport ticket these days. Dave also did me the great honor of grading my runway. We would not have our own runway if not for his encouragement and help.
This will be our second trip to OSH in the 170 (last year was first) so I am familiar with the getting in and out stuff. We have camped for ever but never with the plane. Unfortunately I will be by myself unless the boys can get off work, so I will have plenty of room to over-pack for one and still be OK. I did not sign up for the 170 group camping until late as I did not know until last week if my work schedule would allow me to get there on Sunday. Consequently I am on the waiting list for a spot on 170 Row. I plan to arrive early to mid afternoon on Sunday and I hope to at least get close enough to come scrounge a cup of hot coffee in the morning.
We had wanted to attend OSH for years but other commitments and conflicts kept us away until last year. I had not attended since I was nine years old. We arrived on Thursday about noon just after the last rain shower of the week moved across the airfield. We were on of the first arrivals after the shower and the pattern was virtually empty except for the EAA Tri-Motor. The anticipation and excitement that overcame me as we flew over Rippon and Fisk came into sight borderlined on overwhelming! Hey - forgive me...I felt the same way when I was nine! June has a great picture of me over Fisk with this goofy, adolescent grin that lasted for 2 days! Yesterday I printed the NOTAM and as I was reviewing the Fisk arrival, that same wave of excitement came over me again...just reading the silly thing! Looking forward to meeting everyone and enjoying a great week!
