Re: Gross weight (Floats)
Per the A model POH the max gross weight on floats is 1975, without floats is 1900. 8O :?: :?: :?: 8O Gross wt of the landplane is 2200. Floats impact the balked-landing-climb requirements and add stress to the doorposts, firewall, and attachpoints. Reducing the Gross Wt. reduces those problems (am...

Re: K&N filter myth
After reading over the data and testing I'm wondering where "Brackett" filters stand in the mix?

Gross weight (Floats)
Anyone have any ideas why the gross weight on floats is 100 lbs less?
Anyone working on an increase?

Re: Internal tailwheel steering cable pulleys access
You are aware that your airplane serial 26073 did not come from the factory with that steering cable arrangement. That didn't start till 26505 or the '55 model. So someone has been in the area you seek. Bruce, Many people upgrade tail wheel steering due to the older style causing maintenance headac...

Re: Internal tailwheel steering cable pulleys access
Unfortunately you must remove the tail feathers to gain access OR as I did install an "owner produced" access panel below that area (Field approval).

Re: Replacing Fuses with Circuit Breakers
Log book entry with specifics related to matching the CB to the wire gauge. The club has a link to those numbers. Yes you can use CB's for generator circuit but must be matched to the generator max output assuring that the wire gauge is correct. Are you planning to or have you upgraded the wire itsel...

Having had that style of seat apart many times I'd bet that the seat back frame has been modified thus my comments.

Re: 170B seats
First, having newer seats installed as George has pointed out in the past is not something you want to point out to any FAA type. Second, Having ANY modified seats without the paperwork to back it up could be even worse. The fact that your AI or any AI has passed the annual is not relevant. If its w...

Re: Chromed cylinder Issue
My experience is this; Any part of the engine that is exposed to oil under pressure or scavenge or just flying around down stream of the offending metal maker can (Absorb) or capture some of that metal especially when only a oil screen is in the system. Examples could be cam, rod or crankshaft beari...

I like the Casper but you will also need a spacer that they sell. I think mine was the 1 1/2 inch one.

Re: Aluminum engine mount bushings
George, Well put! My only additional input would be that in the past every time I've approached the FAA or Cessna on this subject and asked the first thing out of their collective mouths has been "Can it be purchased on the open market"? AND that is the crux of my points. FAA 8100 addresse...

Bruce,
I'm all over not being a repository of regulations. Membership has access to "FAA.GOV" for those needs and then it's on them to keep us up to date!
