You are looking for the "Snyder speed kit". Check with the Cessna 180/185 club. Check back and let us know how it works out.

Beacons werent standard equipment. Most of them probably wernt installed until the early 70s when anti collision lights became required. I had mine removed at the last annual as I have wing tip and tail strobes. I forgot to tell the shop to save the parts

Another hangar rent increase

I envy you guys out in the wide open spaces. Just received notice of 2nd increase in one year. Seems out of line considering steep drop in real estate values in this area [northern virginia]. Ill be looking to leave Warrenton-Fauquier [W66]. Anybody know of hangars at Culpeper, Hartwood, etc? Aircra...

regarding wing heaviness: Im thinking asymmetric drag caused by antennas, venturis, floppy door latches due to weak or broken springs, etc may be something to be considered FWIW comments anyone?

The best deal rght now is a used garmin 196-stick it on the glareshield if you can. IMHO Ive been using a glareshield mounted garmin 3 for 11 years-works out to $50 a year. Iloved my flybuddy loran, but it crapped out 3 years ago, looking [not too hard] for a flybuddy gps to replace it. I remember 2...

Not many good flying movies. "One-Six right" was good. Also, "Fate is the Hunter" was good, but I was a kid when I saw it. I think Glenn Ford was the star. You never see it on the classic movie stations, not sure why.

The fin was added in 1949 to increase directional stability with floats. It wouldnt pass the FAA test without it. This is according to the Bill Thompson book CESSNA WINGS FOR THE WORLD.

Concerning buying aero oil: this is one time you might want to support your local FBO. Buying somewhere else is a hassle and saves only a few bucks. And he is not selling me much avgas, Im using car gas mostly

Sorry for hijacking the C195 thread
I thought the O300D conversion required cooling changes, but I could be thinking of the belt-driven vacuum pump STC

Richard,
Youre lucky to have the O300D, most of us have to 'pull the starter'. Do you have a vacuum pump? If yes was the nose bowl and baffling changed?

Does anybody know if the new top-ends theyre making now [ECI and Superior] handle 100LL better than the old Continental cylinders/valves/pistons? Everytime I use 100LL I get bad mag checks-I have Millennium cylinders.

Ifyour looking for a family hauler youre going to be disappointed with the original 145 hp engine. I rarely fly with more than 2 aboard and love mine. Its a great airplane, but its not a load carrier. The 180 hp conversions are performers, but move the plane into another expense category completely.

"speaking" of touch up Valspar brand white primer in the rattle cans works really well (for an older paint job like mine). Especially on steel parts like gear legs , door stops, tie down rings. Sometimes I dont bother with a gloss coat. You can get it at Lowes. Its surprising how much you ...

T he Lowrance looks good but I dont think it has a panel page with a "turn indicator"-correct me if Im wrong. I was thinking of a Garmin 196 in a "panel dock" installed where the glove box was- dont think it would be viewable from the pilots seat, however. Anybody have that setup?
