53b. Looks good so far. I am doing the same thing right now with the same STC. I have yet to tackle the tail wheel but i am almost done with the main gear install. Here are a few pics of it so far. I would really like to do something different with the tail wheel install but what is approved is app...

Re: 172 TD Conversion
Your photos sure look neat. Keep them coming. Wow, that tailwheel bracket is long! Mine (Bolen Conversion) looks long compared to a 170's, but yours appears to be 50% longer. Does yours add a stringer in the aft part of the plane? Are you going to use 170 gear or something else? All of the Bolen / ...

Thanks for the encouragement. There's no turning back now! The main gear box will be all stock 170 parts. I'm using the P-Ponk outboard gear supports which have to be field approved since they are STC'd for a 170 but not a 172. The STC for the conversion is documentation only. No kit. No parts. You ...

Hi Folks, The time has come to start my conversion. :D I have collected all of the parts and information that I think I need. Still waiting on some field approvals but I'm going to roll the dice and hope that they are processed by the time I'm done. I have provided a link to pictures and progress re...

Main Gear Box Assembly
John, Thanks for the link. I'll be sure to contact him. Joe, I was fortunate enough to find all of my parts new surplus. I found most items at C.A. Aviation in Coral Springs, FL 954-227-0669. Preferred Airparts 800-433-0814 and Duncan Aviation 800-228-1836 also had a few things. Tail-wheel parts cam...

Magneto Data
Hi, Champion offers a spark plug wear gauge for sale. When the plug is properly gapped, if the wear gauge fits over the electrodes, the plug is considered worn out. This has always occured around the 500 hour mark for us. The mag drop you have is exactly the same as my O-300A powered 172. It is with...

Main Gear Box Assembly
Hello All, I am in the process of converting my 172 to conventional gear via the Fravel STC. I have realized that the STC does not specify any rivet sizes (diameters) or rivet locations for the forward bulkhead stiffener and doubler plates (0513006-23 and 0713495-15 / -16). Additionally, I will need...

SK170-12C Serial # Range
Hi,
I think you may have mis-read the reply by 4stripes. It says the serial number range is 18000-27169, 609, and 28000-47746.
Also, FWIW I think the correct part number for the rear seat kit is SK170-12C2.
Happy Flying,
Mark

Com120 replacement
Ken, I replaced my MX-11 with a Com810+R. I had a problem that the factory could not duplicate or fix. The radio would become garbled and unreadable. I have not had a problem with the Narco units and they seem to have more transmit power. In all fairness, I bought the MX-11 used but sent it back to ...

180 gear legs
I don't think the part numbers are on the gear legs, just the serial numbers. Try this link. It should help you identify what you have.

Seat Belts / Manual Revision
Hello All, I have a copy of revision one to the 100 series maintenance manual D138-1-13. It was released by Cessna on 2/3/03. Our fiche printer isn't the greatest but it is about 20 pages total and I will fax it to anyone that wants it. PM me or email me with a fax number at mfullen@cmhaviation.com....
