Re: Cessna 170 Resale values

Zreyn: please contact me offline to talk about your airplane. To all the others: here's where the blue book (yada yada yada) value comes into real play: a lender will (typically) only loan up to 90% of the APPRAISED VALUE of the airplane. My plan was to temporarily finance about half the airplane; a...

Re: Cessna 170 Resale values

To ensure I was doing my homework, I checked the price via Vref (free to AOPA members). For a 170B with an O-360, mid-time engine, their value was no higher than $33,812.24. The membership's views of Vref's values are mentioned elsewhere on this thread. If you're a Trade-A-Plane subscriber, you can ...

Re: Cessna 170 Resale values

Its no particular secret I'm in the market for a 170B. Since my wife agrees 99 out of 10 times that I'm a difficult person, of course the must-have list includes a 180hp O-360. I'd love some good answers -- how would you determine fair market value for ANY 170, and this flavor in particular? I know ...

Re: Lycoming O-340 Engine

For whatever the membership might like to think that its worth, I wanted to post some of my experiences with an O-340 powered airplane. The executive summary: very disappointing. Not in flying one -- I haven't been able to find one airworthy yet! I had been closely eyeing a nice looking 170B in Minn...

My partner found this on the forum.

Apparently his use of the search function is better than mine. I couldn't find ANYTHING.

Re: Lycoming O-340 Engine

Google answers all questions ... almost. I'm hoping some of the members out there have experience. The airplane I'm looking at has a low-time O-340, so it would probably be a while before overhaul. I'm just concerned something like a magneto or jug would need replacement with no obtainable option. -S

Lycoming O-340 Engine

Greetings, All. I want to buy a 170, and I will soon be looking at a 1953 170B. It has a Lycoming O-340 engine (170 hp) with a constant speed prop. No one I know has experience with this motor (and neither do I). Apparently the 170 was one of the few applications it was approved for. I've learned th...
