Re: Has anyone installed a 160 HP engine in a 170?

There is a complete guide to Owner Maintenance on the COPA (Canadian Owners and Pilots Association) web page. You would need to be a COPA member to view it. I have a PDF file on my computer that I could post for all - if I knew how to post! Anyway, as an AME and 170 owner it's no concern of mine but...

Re: Cracked lifter bodies on my C-145

Our Canadian members may have a different outlook on what we refer to as a field overhaul, that is, an overhaul not necessarily done in a licensed engine shop but by, or under the supervision of, a certificated powerplant mechanic. I believe the Canadian authorities require certified aircraft engin...

Re: Lower Cowl Lip size

FYI to this old post. My 48 had a 3" lip and always ran about 180 degrees or so in warm temperatures. I trimmed it to 3/4" lip and it still runs 180 degrees in warm temperature. The other noticeable gain in going with a smaller lip is an increase in cruise speed. The 3" lip is nothing...

Re: Headliner Wire supports

Welding rod is too short. Go to a steel supply outfit and buy two ten foot lengths of eighth inch stainless rod. You will use it all. Works perfect. Scott.....use to be 53B OK thanks. I was looking at it last night and I will need it all for sure. The past-past owner removed everything!! , n...

Re: 48 fuel flow / fuel selector questions

John, the exact number of vents on top is ... 0 . I think I need to take a look at things. Mine is one of the early models for 48 maybe it didn't have them ? Jon I had a slight issue with my 48 as well. The vent on yours, same as mine, located top center of fuselage directly above the front window....

Headliner Wire supports

I'm looking to install a new headliner in my 1948 C-170. The headliner that is in it now was made up by the previous owner and obviously not original. The problem is the support wires, Cessna part number 0511011-3, -20, -9 and -21 are not there!! 8O Does anyone know whether these wires are available...

Re: Door latch strap removal

Actually as my memory returns, part #51 is a screw. There are four of them that hold part #27 to part #14 and the assembly retains the shaft #28. You will remove the 4 screws to get to the pin to release it from the linkage. Not a big deal. The hardest part of removing all this is drilling out all ...

Door latch strap removal

Hi I'm new to the forum. I have a 1948 170 with the same old door latch popping open issue. I'm planning on removing both the left and right latch assemblies as they require new springs and pins. My question, I believe the long flat strap rod from the latch to chrome interior door handle needs to be...
