Battery Box Vent Tube

My battery box vent tube fell off the other day. It appears that corrosion or wear and tear caused the outlet nipple on the box to break. Can this be replaced or do I have to buy a new battery box?

Re: F&M Filter adapter

I second George's opinion. Also of concern is the orginal El Reno had a gasket that leaked alot and F&M supplies a better on with less leaks. The El Reno also has a 1 1/4 ( I believe) square nut in which to tighten - good luck finding that socket - the new models have hex nuts which are much eas...

Re: Tach drive oil leak

Now I am starting to wounder if the housing might be the problem as well. The gasket is sort of press fit into the housing and it seems there was a copper or brass ring within the housing and integral to the housing that may be the problem as well. I think I may be replacing the housing and gasket i...

Re: Tach drive oil leak

Thanks for the info. I am working under the assumption that the tach drive spool is not rotating on center and that is the ultimate problem. When I examined it there appeared to be no scratches and it was centered. I cannot imagine how you could straighten this thing out if it where off center. My g...

Tach drive oil leak

Ok guys what do you think? I have located an oil leak with the tach drive cable I believe. I have replace the gasket to the accesory case twice and the gasket within the drive housing and still have oil leaking out the cable where it screws on to the housing. Is there supposed to be a gasket where t...

Re: Landing speed

Doug I could not agree more that I was so fortunate. I cannot believe looking back on the whole experience that it happened that way. I basically asked a pilot friend what to do and he set me up with a 170 to buy and that crazy instructor. My life today could be dramatically different in flying term...

What do you mean by USED 0-360 not a good option? Just curious as I may consider this at TBO. Steve

Re: Landing speed

I bought an A model 4 yrs ago and then used it to get my license. Got my license in 11 weeks. Had this discussion ad infinitum about should I start in a nose dragger. To this day 700 hours latter have never flown a nose dragger. In the end I have no regrets to learning this way. Fortunately my instr...

Re: Always carry a spare if you have one

Old pipeline pilot gave me a solid rubber tire used on roller coasters manufactured by american coaster company (Texas) I believe. Fits the scott 3200 with a little work on the tire. Dont worry about flats anymore just the legality of the situation. The tire is a little heavier than original. Cost m...

Re: help may be coming

I was told I would die instantly if I ever set foot in a Bonanza so I passed on that and got me a 170. Ole 1320D has been very very good to me. I am still alive! Or was it my 3rd class physical that assured that. Now I am confused. Steve
