Re: Static port leak
George, Just returned home from a day at the hangar. Friend of mine said hey I got a pipe thread tap, and wa la! It's on. Then I get home and see your last thread. Valuable, you people are that have been their done that. And Del, Nice job coming up with the part number. I'll put it with the old part...

Re: Static port leak
Here's what I have found out so far (trial and error). I began to modify the spruce part to work as the old one did. I drilled the center hole out to match the larger size of the old one. Then I cut the length of the female threaded stem to match the length of the old one. That's when I realized I'm...

Re: Static port leak
Thanks for the response George, I did pick up the lower of the two static ports shown on the spruce site, but it is configured so the flange is mounted on the outside of the skin giving a look as if you glued a 50 cent piece onto the outside of your airplane. I've noticed this is the way all later m...

Static port leak
I'm looking for a static port that rivets to the inside of the fuse (1955 170-B). So far I can only find externally mounted ports from Cessna, Spruce, and Wentworth. I'm not sure this is the way it came from the factory, or when it used to have a venturi, because it now has a Lyc. with a vaccuum pum...

Oshkosh Parking
Going to OSH for the first time. Do they have club/type parking somewhere, or just the mass vintage, north 40 stuff? I figured we have some seasoned OSH veterans with all the answers on this site.
Thanks

Re: Door Seal
Use the genuine article! Available from Spruce 877-477-7823 PN 05-03623 $59.95 I'm in the process of installing the above baggage door seal, and is it ever thick compaired to the original. As I place a few practice strips in place with 2 sided sticky tape, it places the door under lots of stress. Ad...

Re: Door Seal
George, Does Brown have anything for a baggage door seal? If not, any recomendations? My baggage door is one I often see on C-180's with the oval push/pull handle. 2nd. question while I'm posting. For gluing carpet to aluminum such as flap/trim tunnel, should I have any concerns on types of glue tha...

Re: Flap Gap Seals
Don't do it! If I could take mine off without leaving all those rivet holes to look at, I would. I learned to fly Dad's 170 which had them on. Back then I knew no different. I was only told how they ruined the flaps. How his stock 170 in a power off dive would jet past his friends 170 with a 180 co...

Re: help needed- cowl door
As I draw nearer to a paint job with lots of this kind of prep work between now and paint, I have a question. As a type club, is there a way to get a run of these types of parts made up through Cessna, or some other type of manufacturer? Realize I know as close to nothing as a person possibly can on...

Boarding Steps
The boarding steps on the 170 have been pointing towards the ground for years now. Do they need to be replaced, or is there a good way to salvage them?
Thanks

Re: Door Seal
The timing on this door seal information couldn't be better. I am starting a total interior re-do next month. In addition to the seals already mentioned on this thread, I'm wondering if there is a seal that goes around the side windows (front and rear) when I replace the glass. And also if there is ...

Re: crankshaft oil seal leak
Nick, My last 170 had an 0300-D with the same leak, and it tormented us for about 4 new nose seals before we got it to stop. The first time it leaked we felt good about replacing it with a fresh new seal. But by the third time, well you can imagine the frustration. The engine would run nice and dry ...
