Re: S16 Copalis State Airport
We fly our 170 out to Copalis quite often. My kids love going to "Airplane Beach". You will be fine with the 6.00 x 6's as long as you stay on the dark sand. Plan to arrive at low tide. The "Runway" area will be under water at high tide. Dont taxi on the light colored sand u...

Re: Plastic parts, Airbus V Boeing split- cleaning out my 17
Just a thought... In most large aircraft with four pod mounted hi bypass engines, it is recommended to land in a crab. For example the 747 with CF-6 engines that I flew allows only 4 degrees of bank at touchdown or you risk a pod strike. Perhaps the professional pilots flying this considerably large...

George,
Please keep us informed should you read another newspaper article and double your knowledge about fly by wire aircraft.
Perhaps if you read an article on healthcare you would be qualified to offer medical advice....

Re: cleaning out my 170 parts
I know, sometimes you don't have a choice. I cringe every time I step on an Airbus ...When I have a choice it won't be plastic. AMEN, Richard! I won't allow myself OR any of my family members to ride Airbus! That is a serious position I maintain. Just last month a friend I occasionally contract-pil...

Re: Rebuilding 1948 fuel selector
Take a look at the Cessna 120/ 140 association website. They have a lot of great info on rebuilding and maintaining the older fuel valves.

Re: Flap Handle Extender Bar
The purpose of a shoulder harness is to prevent your head And torso from contacting the instrument panel in the event of sudden deceleration. It does not need to be worn so tight that it prevents the operation of the flight controls. If you can't operate the flaps with your harness on, you're doing ...

Re: Apollo 2001 (now Garmin)
I flew a old 747-200 years ago that had a 2001 tied to three Litton 92'sfor GPS updating. Used this set up for a few years, so I got to be fairly familiar with the 200. What's your question?

Re: 170A Flaps Like the 170B?
Blueldr, Tha straight 170 has similar plain flaps (like the 140). The early plain flaps are held up by a single spring which is the only thing that keeps them up while the aircraft is on the ground. The spring is very light and gusty winds can blow the flaps around quite a bit if they are not proper...

Re: 170A Flaps Like the 170B?
The 170A does not have the same flap design as the 190/195 series aircraft. The 170A has a PLAIN flap. Here's what a 170A flap looks like for those that need a refresher. The aircraft in the photo is our 170A.

Re: 170A Flaps Like the 170B?
The 170 & 170A do not have split flaps. They have small plain flaps. The A model has 50 degrees of deflection and are not as effective as the later (much larger) fowler flaps on the B model aircraft. Saying that ...I own an A model. I've wished I had more engine several times, I've never needed ...

Alaskan Bushwheel sells spacers. They are .125" thick each, you will need 4. Give them a call.

Re: Photo Album
Blueldr, Thanks for your concern. All the photos from the beach were taken with the plane parked in the same spot. I landed on damp sand during low tide, but didnt drive through any standing water. One of the benefits of flying to the beach is that my wife and boys get to help wash the plane at the ...

Here's a few photos of a recent day of flying with my family. We spent the morning at the Beach, then flew off to a Vintage Aircraft gathering in the afternoon. http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af200/mekstrand/beach%20trip/IMG_2457.jpg http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af200/mekstrand/beach%20t...
