Re: wing fuel drain threads stripped!
OBTW: I learned a trick from an old fart mechanic. Before trying to remove any fitting from any metal first use a tightening effort until the fitting turns a slight amount. Then turn in the proper direction for removal. Since I've been using this technique I've never stripped any threads.

Re: Moving C170B out of type certified...
I do know that if you modify your plane (Go to far) you will be placed into a "Experimental/Exhibition" class. Also I've seen Canadian Cessna's built from parts that aren't able to be certificated in the US.

Re: Cost to repaint
Ask some important questions: Do they disassemble the plane to strip and paint? Do they have A&P's assemble and rig after painting? Doe's it include an annual? And most important!! Do they provide a written contract outlining work to be accomplished and cost. This is for a proper paint job and a...

Re: Gross weight (Floats)
Wipline 2100A has STC for C-170 A/B 2200lb gross. (STC00804CH) the 2106 lb number shows up in the TCD sheet but doesn't mention the EDO float although it does in other areas so who knows??

Re: Gross weight (Floats)
In combination with Wipline 2100's you get gwt of 2200lbs. ART/WingX STC for GWT of 2400lbs is a bust. He's blow'in smoke about getting it approved in the US. Been at it for years with no results.

Looks like it!! I wonder how they went about the stinger and what the gross weight was?? Seems 175 tail feathers were used.n2582d wrote:Note the '52 and earlier "D" shaped rear window, the '53 and later pressure cowling, and the C-185 style round tail spring.

Re: C-170 "C"
After reading the other thread and seeing the 40 degree flap issue as possibly "THEE" issue (Gross weight increase) I'm calling ART/WingX tomorrow and see why they haven't received a US STC for 170B/180 hp (2400 lb gross). Maybe they have more info they could share. I know many would appre...

I would think a new thread dealing with "Errors" might be of more use to the club as moving these large businesses to correct errors is akin to changing the IRS rules

Re: Internal tailwheel steering cable pulleys access
As I read it the old style steering put more tension on the lower rudder hinge bushing. New style went for the rudder cable forward of that bushing. It worked I guess but then you have all of the other issues now.
