Re: 31 tires?

Here I am, completely content with my 26" Goodyears and happy as can be.........Then you have to post a pic of a 29 comparison, that makes my brain think thoughts that my pocketbook cringes at. :?

Thank goodness I've got awhile before the 26's wear out...

Re: 1955 170B fuel selector valve placard

Well, that is an interesting observation.

Mine did NOT have the shown instructions for the 172. And I did not notice that when I made my comment.

Billet aluminum, with CNC'd lettering etc, was a lot nicer then I expected.
I'm also using one of these. Very nice piece and worth it.

If you ever have problems with your ADC oil filter set up, just replace it with the newer Tempest external spin on system. Many of us like ours.

They are not trying to sell you anything. Atrial Fibrillation means the upper chambers of your heart are not beating in sync with the lower chambers of your heart, in the simplest of terms. That fibrillation is like a little mixer banging your blood cells around. They can form clots of varying sizes...

Re: Top Cowl Screws Behind The Spinner

That black dot in the spinner back plate is a hole. It lines up perfectly with the bottom two screws for the upper cowl. I just use a regular phillips head screwdriver, stick it through that hole and undue the bottom two by moving the prop and aligning the hole. I always thought it was put there jus...

Re: Changing from a generator to an alternater

My aircraft had the Plane Power 60 amp alternator in it when I bought it.

No complaints so far. There is a manual Alt. Field switch in the panel now with an amber light to tell you if/when it is not working. The only time I've seen it on is when I accidentally hit the switch and turn it off....

Re: Maintenance Induced Emotional Roller Coaster

Doug, I understand your frustration. I've just finished my 5th annual. I started it early January, and finished it by the end of April. I've been through a couple of 3-4 month annuals. My first two were doozies, then a couple of quick ones. And then this last one. Gotta love 70 year old airplanes eh...

Re: Carbon Monoxide Detector

i used this one for years isn't it ok? http://www.surfacezero.com/g503/data/500/medium/co2.jpg Blunt, truth: NO! It's NOT ok. Those are not reliable at best, and last only a few days after installed, plus once they detect (If ever they do) it's too late and not reuseable. Trash it..... It was trash...

Mine is located between the seats, just aft of the fuel valve, with nozzle forward. Either pilot or passenger can reach down and unlatch and use it.

Re: Do I need to keep my VHF Nav?

Brian,

What made you opt for the Garmin 650, vs the 355 with the integrated nav/com radio?

I'm not currently IFR rated, and am researching these for my 170A to learn in, and so am trying to figure out pros/cons, and the differences.

Ole Pokey,
Yes, you get some dings and such, but nothing a good properly sized bandaid can't fix.
