Re: Well Done II

Well done George, Dale Medendorp and Velvet! This is great software. It's easy to use and navigate. All I have to worry about now is keeping up with new posts! THANKS http://buncombe.main.nc.us/~bward/cessnalogo.gif Bryan :D Bryan (and everyone else!) To keep up with the new posts, all you h...

tie downs

Well, now, as the Wizard of Oz said, "That's a horse of a different color!"
If you are gonna make up a set to give away, ....send a set to me and I'll run a test and give away the losers!

tie downs reply

Fly guy, ...now you've gone and done it! Actually, you didn't see me pullin' 'em out. It was your good friend  Ron Massicot who pulled 'em out for me. But I did pull the last one out. Your ground is the hardest I've ever pounded a tie-down into, and they still came up with only a lit...

removing glue/foam

If I were you, I'd want to beat up the nut that glued carpet down. MEK or some other solvent will remove the zinc chromate primer. Alcohol might work. Have a fire extinguisher handy. (You can't see alcohol-fed flames so be careful.) Do it outside the hangar. Even if you have to touch up the primer, ...

Tie-downs (Original Post from other site)

For references, here's the post from the other site. Wanna save some real money? Try this. Fly ties are a good idea, but they have somel useless hardware involved. The reason they work well is not the little tie-thing with three holes in it. In fact, 3 stakes are not what does the work either. It's ...

Homemade Tie-downs

Dick Lemmon read the post I made at the old forum regarding my variation on the "Fly-Ties"- type tie-downs and asked: "George, 1. How much do those four 4ft tie down rods weigh? 2. Where in hell can you stow four 4ft steel rods? 3. How do you get them back out of the ground? Dick"...

Lead Counterweights on B-models

Cleo Bickford is even pickier than I am! (If you can believe that!) He pointed out that the counterweights on my 170-B model is the only one he's ever seen that are attached like the Illustrated Parts Catalog shows. The Parts Catalog shows the lead weight attached with 4 rivets. (B-models only,...th...

East Texas/Toledo Bend, La. Fly In and Race!

Well, Jamie and I are back home and here's the report on the Fly In organized by the Texas Regional Coordinator Louise Bickford, and co-hosted by the Toledo Bend renegades Deana and Gary Hanson along with co-conspirators Ron and Connie Massicot! Now before I get too far into this tale, I want to apo...

True Airspeeds

My '53 170B has a McCauley EM 7655 (cruise) prop and it runs about 103-105 kts at 2450 RPM. But at that power setting with that prop it's probably more like a 70-75% power setting. My fuel flows run about 8 gph. The same settings with a standard 7653 prop would likely be about 65% and would run abou...
