Re: Dan Rudin's 170
BL, Two newly overhauled mags, all new seals in the gen and starter, new mounts to the firewall, all new custom built baffle seals, small repairs as needed. and LABOR......The last cost him as much as the parts. And I ate almost a half week of labor to see the project finished! I agree, I can't see ...

Dan Rudin's 170
Delivered Dan's 55 today. What a beautiful day, here in central IL. light and veritable winds from the south east. I ran the aircraft somewhat hard...at the top of the green arc. saw 130-135 MPH the whole flight.(about twenty minutes from Campus to Clifton) Really the fastest 170 I have ever flown. ...

Re: Digital BoreScope Opinions
I looked hard at that one too George. But wanted a self contained system. The one I got is "OK", the resolution is very good near and far. I can throw it in the right seat of the pickup, take it to the job and use it. If need be. My buddy Paul bought a mini camera. Just cuz he could, Has n...

Re: Digital BoreScope Opinions
Just opened the box this afternoon, A General 200 bore scope. 3 foot lead, small screen, 13 mm camera with adjustable light source, and 45 and 90 degree mirrors. Not a good system, but for $125.00 will do every thing I need.

Re: Destroyed cylinders
We should probably know the name no matter what happens. I'd like to hear they made a mistake and made it right. Then I might be more inclined to use them over someone I know no history. I couldn't agree more! I'm willing to give anyone the benefit of a doubt. but then, It goes with the old adage, ...

Re: Destroyed cylinders
What George and Del said. When I change out air filters and spark plugs, I hold the old ones for the owner to examine.

Re: Engine to firewall bushings (1948)
Ken, Haven't been on in a wile, so haven't read any new posts. Your situation intrigues me. From what I see on the IPC you should have a 3/8 inch hole in the fire wall. If you have a (roughly) 5/8 hole in the fire wall you need the later mounts. The rubber from the engine side fits into the cabin ar...

Re: Engine to firewall bushings (1948)
Ken,
I'm not looking at your aircraft. But if the firewall is drilled out to accept the later rubber mounts, you have no recourse, except to put in the later mounts. I think your IA will agree. Pics would help.

Re: Engine to firewall bushings (1948)
Ken, It shows a pad of some kind, yet the part numbers are convoluted. The A and B IPC shows the rubber mounts and define them as P/N 0550355 (fire wall) and 0550154-2 (cabin). Does it say AN960-616 and AN970-6? That's what mine says, AN960 is a normal washer, and AN970 is a large area washer. That...

Re: Engine to firewall bushings (1948)
Ken,
If the part numbers mentioned earlier are installed, they probably should be re-installed. just cuz, they are there... The holes in the fire wall are there to include the mounts.....anything else will not fill the void......Just my thoughts.....

Re: Engine to firewall bushings (1948)
So, while checking torque on all important attach bolts. We noticed there are rubber bushings on engine side, and on the cabin side. The IPC does not show them. From research on here, I don't see that a SN before 19200 is supposed to have them. Do I need to remove them, or is there some approval fo...

Re: Aluminum engine mount bushings
There are a couple threads about these. I just can't find them. Yea Tim. I started one about two months ago.....It ended with the Al Bushings being about 650.00 dollars as opposed to the rubber bushings at 70.00 dollars. You REALLY NEVER!! want to look at the engine mount bushings at the fir...

Re: Sandy Hurricane Airports Small Aircraft
Starting to get the wind now. Lucky to be inside and hopefully safe, no guarantee. Expecting big wind, tides and rain. Woodbine is one of the highest places in the county. Wish everyone good luck. Scott When I said it could be worse we could be on the Atlantic coast line I was thinking about Woodbi...

Any of us, who make our living in aviation, (in theory) is an arm of the FAA. It's just I couldn't agree with you MORE!!!!!
