My hangar neighbor bought some from Cessna. It is thicker in the middle, and thins out towards the trailing edges - GREAT stuff. I wanted some till I found out how much he paid. It was an unbelievable amount.

George, I respect your opinions. But, I am so glad we can differ and still be friends. The jury did not sue anybody! The judge and lawyers most probably set a range of 15 billion to 10.5 million as the options the jury could choose from. Personally, and very sadly, I have spent countless hours in co...

I am not against the boat trailer grease. The question was asked about one's favorite grease, and I replied. Mine is the Shell 22. I have to taxi thru water at times at the smaller strips. Every year at annual, all of the grease is still in there, and there has not ever been any rust. Here in North ...

There is at least one attorney who is a member of the C-170 Association. FWIW Then I guess they all can't be bad. :D Until he sues the association for defamation of character. Wait a minute! Thought all of this was about lack of character. How in the world can they sue for defamation of l...

Maybe we should all drive by the 5000+ sq ft homes of the lawyers and judges, so we can give them the salute!

I am with you pif_sonic, the lawyers and judges have been selling us down the river for some time now for their own personal gain at great cost to all of us.

Food for thought: A boat trailer rarely goes from 0 mph to 60 in an instant like a landing aircraft wheel does. Aviation grease is made for that application, and a tube of grease lasts so long the cost is nominal over the long haul. The savings from using boat trailer grease wouldn't add up to much....

Mobil 28 or Aeroshell 22 are good choices. I use the Aeroshell 22, it's a wide-temperature range synthetic. The synthetics have more stability than the organics in that wide temperature range.

That N9125 sure is a beautiful airplane. The owner should be very proud. But Geeze, the wing sure is flat, isn't it? That's a classic STRAIGHT wing Dick! Also, that wing is for pilots who have the ability to land in short places with small flaps. All others should restrict themesevles to the ...

Imagine that your girlfriend has a wheel bearing failure in your 1957 Chevy Impala, but HiWay Chevron refuses to take care of it, yet they're quite happy to do take care of 2006 Lexus that has the same problem? Can't remember an Impala in '57, weren't they called BelAirs? Or something similar. Clos...

Well, another way to look at it: A Kenworth big rig breaks down in front of an auto shop that works on small imports. The truck driver tells the shop that he's broke down and they need to fix his truck! The shop says they just work on small imports, they don't work on big rigs. The truck driver info...

It might be more throw away at that point! As soon as you get your new computer home, the dam thing is old technology and the new neat products are already on the shelf. 19 years from now, these new glass panels will seem older than our steam gauges do now. People will probably have all the in...

Paul, definitely let us know the performance differences with the repitched prop. I was thinking about repitching mine to a 51 but am worried about losing too much speed. Then again I have green stripes... I have a little to spare as compared to those red airplanes. David Wonder if those red...

To play the Devils Advocate: The cost for a mechanic to keep up with current manuals, service bulletins, equipment, etc., etc., seems very substantial. To do it for older style technology and new composite, glass panels, etc may be an unreasonable business plan. It might trend towards those that wor...

Hi David, Aircraft Spruce sells Plexus by the gallon. Aircraft windshields and windows will last 25 years or more if properly taken care of. The savings over a years time to use anything other than a product made for aviation windshields and windows wouldn't add up to a case of beer. Where's the log...

I was surrounded by police one time and asked to exit the airplane! Not sure what would have happened if I had not obliged. The commute to work involved a 4 mile walk to the office after tying down the airplane. And, of course, a 4 mile walk back that evening. I parked at the North end and the offic...
