I would never tear down an engine on the basis of one oil sample analysis. There would have to be some other symptoms FWIW Good luck

glove box installation

I bought a glove box on E-[censored]. Im confused by page 75a of the IPC. Looking at items 66 and 67. Described as strap, nut, bolt and clamp. What is this for? Does the strap support the glove box? Does the throttle cable run thru the clamp? Anybody with sn26039 thru sn26995 and a glove box take a ...

Do you have to have a speaker? I was thinking of removing mine to save some weight.

PLEASE dont put those ugly steps and handles on a pretty plane like a 170. Thats number 17 on my list of dumb mods.

After looking at that strobe for a while it could be some other brand than Aero-flash. Like Whelan for example. I think Cessna even sold a "piggy-back' style tip strobe.

Looks like a stock Grimes nav light assembly with an 'Aero-flash' piggy back wing tip strobe. Nothing exotic, check the usual sources like Aircraft Sprouce or trade a plane ads.

I dont have a stall light or horn. Theres a cheesy wag aero single probe EGT in the hole where it should be [below the pilots control tube]. Is it legal not to have one?

Yeah, makes sense to me. I think they called it 'jet flow" tho. Cessna was trying to recover the performance they lost when they put the nosewheel on. Anybody have one? How much speed and climb improvement?

Is there a performance advantage to these aftermarket exhausts? Or are they just less expensive alternatives to the original? Definitely not less expensive. No measurable performance gains Im told. Maybe slightly better engine cooling. Its mostly for looks I guess. I wouldnt bother but thats just MHO

I have an old Air Facts magazine that has a black and white picture of a new 170A with overall paint job. The base color might be gray, the stripes appear to be edged in white. Id be willing to mail the magazine to George or Bruce or whoever in the interest of historical accuracy. I think I read an ...

With no gyros in a low or no viz situation the so called HSI display on your GPS might help you stop any turns before your bank got to steep. If I had a Garmin 196 Id definitely be on the panel page in those conditions.

Its worse than you think. If user fees come about, you wont be able to avoid them. The FAA will bill you merely for owning the plane AND for the services you use.
