Contact the Message Board Admins and they will verify your membership and turn you “on” on the message boards. It is unfortunately a separate action due to software that isn’t compatible.

Re: Securing rudder when tied down outside
Now you just have to figure out how to convert the 170 from a control wheel to a stick. That would be a cool STC! I find aircraft with Sticks much harder to enter/ egress and love the 170 for their ease of doing both. Flying a Cub/ Super Cub/ Champ are fun but getting in/ out is gymnastics. I'm too...

Re: FINALLY! ... A Cold Day in Hell.
I had to come to DFW yesterday for Max training. We’ve had so much snow this year and it’s been so cold that it’s 8” deep of hard pack. It’s going to take a while to melt all that.

(What’s the difference between IAS and TIAS? IAS is what we see on the instrument. TIAS accounts for installation error,** and Calibration error, .) By George's definition, TIAS (of yesterday) is what we call CAS (Calibrated Airspeed) of today. I was wondering if that was what he was getting at... ...

Re: Flap assisted take off
I see Jughead pops his from 10 -> 20 momentarily to get it off, and he’s the best STOL 170 pilot that I’m aware of. He has practiced a lot to get that performance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tj_4Tsbkz5c I’m with Bruce. Average pilots don’t have the experience or practice enough to benefit from ...

Re: Avionics Upgrade
Mine is in the shop right now getting a GTN-355 and two GI-275s. I’m completely eliminating the vacuum system. Leaving the SL-30 in for ILS and second Comm capabilities. Last year I put in a L3 Lynx transponder for ADS-B In/ Out. Like Brian, I want light IFR capability/ safety. Average stage length ...

Welcome to the Assoc. and the wonderful world of C-170s! We have a wonderful and knowledgeable group here who love our airplanes and mostly like each other.

Normal capacity of my bladder is two hrs, three if using Long Range, so the stock tanks are fine for my mission.

Re: Cessna 170 selling prices (split topic)
I'm in the similar situation as Rich G. By Christmas I will have as much in avionics as I paid for the airplane three years ago. I wouldn't be able to sell it for what I'll have in it, but I'm ok with that. My insurance is renewing right now, and I upped my hull value to $60k. While I doubt I'd be a...

Re: Garmin vs. Dynon Skyview HDX
Relieved to hear I’m not the only one looking to spend way too much money on an old taildragger. I’m also looking at the 355 and two 275s. Put a L3 Lynx in last year. Been wondering if I’m crazy.
