Re: Flap system
Kyle, I just now paid attention to your posts and saw Bruce's post with the You Tube link. You are in the best of hands with Mac, there's an absolute treasure of knowledge there from one of the old timers that really know it all ( sorry Mac, but you do have a year or two on me ). You'll learn more o...

Re: Tail Pull Handles
What I use to raise my tail ( of the plane ) is a motorcycle air lift. It raises the platform about 32 inches making crawling around in the back much easier. I'm currently relocating the battery to the back ( bigger job than you would think ) and a level floor makes it much less tiring.

It's now in Everett at Paine Field. They are planning on 5 more hours of flight testing, with flights to its service ceiling of 60,000 feet. After that I don't know what their plans are.

Never know what you might see
Just hanging around the airport last Sunday and they finally decided it was a GO, even though the L-39 chase plane wouldn't ignite the APU. http://www.eaa.org/news/2011/2011-01-27_mig29.asp I was about 300 feet away when they put the boots to her. Two aboard and 900 gallons of fuel with full afterbu...

Re: Trim tab tension
Trim tab freeplay with the elevator in the mid position is minimal, well within tolerences. Torington bearing and bolt for rod attachment to the tab have very recently been replaced. Freeplay increases with the elevator at either stop due to sideways freeplay in the end bearing of the actuator where...

Re: Trim tab tension
I can trim for any speed I want, It just won't stay trimmed for anything over 130. Trimmed for 140 and lightly hold the wheel and it slowly rolls back. The actuator is tightly mounted and properly adjusted but shows signs of wear. It looks like a rebuild is in order. Lubrication was mentioned "...

Trim tab tension
Is there any way to adjust the trim tab system so that it will stay trimmed for anything over 130 MPH? I often want to trim for 140 when I drop down out of the mountains but it will roll itself back to around 130. Cable tension is correct and I don't see anything else to do shy of less lubrication. ...
