I don’t think those doublers on the horizontal bulkhead will be found in the IPC either but who cares, as long as stuff works.

My guess is the spring is for hysteresis where vibrations if not attenuated, might lead to accelerated shaft wear but that’s a wag on my part

Yes,I have as likely those who have had to replace the upper hinge. My doors (53B) did not have seal retainers, the seal is just glued in place. The door skin is easy, if I could do itAny of you guys ever had to reskin a door

A pic would help to make sure we get your slant (feeble attempt at humour). From memory and a reminder to myself to look harder at the shims this annual, I seem to remember the shims do not fully engage into the gap at the top of the casting but are probably at least 1/4” away from the outboard cast...
