Re: Winterization w/ STC'd cowl
Do you still have the "Blast Tubes" working that force air from the high pressure area of your cowl to the oil temperature probe area? I believe I do and if so, will try what you suggest. Are you certain your gauge is not Centigrade? It's the original (or appears to be at least), reading ...

Re: Winterization w/ STC'd cowl
I haven't flown it much since the weather got so cold, but this past weekend with OAT around +20F at altitude, I don't think my oil temp ever crept much past 100 degrees on the gauge on an hour-long cross-country flight.

Winterization w/ STC'd cowl
Hi folks, Ambient temps are firmly in the 30's now in Ohio so I'm looking to winterize my cowl to keep oil temps in the happy range. Problem is, my a/c has been modified by a previous owner via the STC to use the Airborne vacuum pump which protrudes through the cowl and necessitates a change from th...

Nav Light/Instrument Light switch(es)
Hello folks, I'm trouble-shooting some electrical gremlins in my instrument lighting system and I'm looking for some info... Currently, both my external nav lights and internal instrument lights (both the overhead "torpedos" and numerous post lights) are powered on by the same switch and r...

Rear seat removal-TIP (split from ELT location topic)
Thanks for the suggestions. I like the idea of mounting it up front on the pilot's side for the reasons you shared. Any advice on the rear seat? Is there a trick that allows you to slide it in/out without gouging wall panels or windows in the process, or is it destined to be a 2 person (or more) job...

ELT location?
So while we're in the middle of installing new rear windows in our 170B, we're also planning to relocate the ELT. Currently, it's mounted just behind the left rear door post, which makes it EXTREMELY difficult to install/remove the rear bench seat - hence the window replacement... (oops!) , and also...

What drive belt for Airborne vacuum pump?
Hi folks, I'm new to this group but have been reading along in many posts for quite some time. I'm in the process of purchasing a '53 170B with a dry vacuum pump installed per STC SA15CE. The logs do not contain the original STC paperwork, and my efforts to search the internet have been mostly unsuc...
