Almost ready for a trip to KLMO for installation! It took longer than we thought but was worth the time and effort.

Re: Thru bolts and torque sequence & oil pump cover

Thanks to the both of you for the help. I think I was over thinking the assembly. We start putting the engine together tomorrow. I will keep the updates coming.

Thru bolts and torque sequence & oil pump cover

Hello everyone, I'm the guy that was lucky enough to find the cracked lifter bodies in my C-145. I have gotten all the parts back from the various FAA repair stations and we are getting ready to put the engine back together. I have read the overhaul manual several times and am unsure of how to torqu...

Re: Cracked lifter bodies on my C-145

Update,
I just recieved a call from Aircraft Specialties Services. :( My crankshaft has a "severe" crack on the flange. Not good news but at least we found it before the prop fell off! I think the airplane will be down for quite some time now. Will keep the updates coming.

Re: F&M Filter adapter

I bought mine about nine months ago from F&M and think it's a well built adapter and have had no problems with it.

Re: Cracked lifter bodies on my C-145

In the parts catalog it lists part number 531211 as a bolt, crankcase tie. Is this considered a thru bolt and need to be replaced during an overhaul per continental service bulletin. I know part number 537465 is listed as a thru bolt. The bolt, crankcase tie looks like a thru bolt to me but is not che...

Re: Cracked lifter bodies on my C-145

Update, Lar's (my A&P friend)and I disassembled the engine yesterday in the 90 Deg. heat. Bring your sun screen to the convention. We were fortunate not to find any corrosion or problems that we could see with a visual inspection. We have decided that we will send the crank, rods, lifters...

Re: Cracked lifter bodies on my C-145

Bruce, Thanks for the info on you engine. I talked to Western Skyways about rebuilding my engine and was told it would be aproxemetly $22000.00 to do. The gentleman that I talked to seemed very knowledgable and friendly but the airplane would have to go into hibernation for two years for me to come ...

Re: Cracked lifter bodies on my C-145

That's interesting about the Real Gasket tubes. I bought them from spruce a little less than a year ago and they came with all the paper work. I talked with Chris before the install and he seems like a good guy. We will make sure the proper springs are used. Thanks for the heads up.

Re: Cracked lifter bodies on my C-145

Thanks Bruce, I almost feel like I know you. I have read many of your posts since buying my 170 and have learned a lot! How long did it take you to rebuild your engine and ( I don't mean to pry just bracing myself) how much did it end up costing you? The guys I have talked to locally also recommende...
