Re: Future 170 Caretaker!
MT MTV-15-B/210-58 on a Lycoming O-360-A1A. I love it. Probably the best money I've ever spent on an airplane. It has made every flight better and safer. - Greatly improved climb, especially at high density altitude. With two aboard I once flew the airplane to FL200. - No more RPM limitation. I can ...

We’ll see you there next year, George!
It was great to meet all the 170 owners and see their airplanes.

Re: School me on Venturi horns
I have two "super" venturis plumbed in parallel, running two modern (non-AN) gyros, with a vacuum regulator. I get 4" Hg suction on the takeoff roll and 5" at all speeds over 60 mph. I don't know how much I'd get without a regulator. I used to have just one venturi but it wasn't ...

Re: Brake Lines part
The hoses lay flat. You just have to watch for chafing where they come close to stringer/stiffener flanges.
The -0100 means they're 10 inches long, measured between sealing flats.

ADSB is very helpful on the Ripon-Fisk arrival. Of course I’m looking out the window, but an occasional glance at the iPad helps to assure me that I’m not missing someone.

Re: I'm Tall Are There Short Seat Frames Available
Good decision to stay with the stock seats if you can. My airplane has seats from a 1975 172 that cause all kinds of problems. I adjusted their heights when I bought the airplane 15 years ago and haven’t touched them since!

Re: Basic empty weight
I'm very happy with my MT and glad to be rid of the old Hartzell. The change took off 10 pounds and added a lot to my rate of climb.
Empty weight is 1393 lb., calculated from a weighing in 1993. Avcon O-360, front seats from a '75 172, back seats, and full interior.

Re: Future 170 Caretaker!
The eddy current inspection AD on that Hartzell prop hub is a real pain, especially if you don't have a shop nearby that can do it. Before I got rid of my Hartzell I was paying $300 every 100 hours for the inspection.
Looks to me like the stall warn unit is below the pilot side yoke.

I’ve never seen a Brackett filter clogged. What do you see?

Re: Seat Rail Replacement
Has anyone used the approved screws to attach the seat rails rather than rivets as advertised at McFarlane Aviation when replacing seat rails? I have used screws for the larger diameter fasteners at the ends of the rails. You just have to spot-face the locations on the rail to make sure the screw h...
