Re: Aluminum engine mount bushings
Bruce, Some of these posts make me want to quit the wrenching business. FAA 8100 goes into far more detail than the reg. I've taken the time to do the reading and asked the hard questions on this subject. There are grey areas that many explore. The reg only says what it says But if you pay attention...

Re: Aluminum engine mount bushings
The regs say that if a factory part is available you must try that avenue first (and they are as of today @ Floats Alaska 907-248-7070). OBTW; Either of 2024-T3 or 6061-T6 aluminum alloys are what you would need if you opt for self made. Both are now being used as approved float materials (EDO &...

Re: Aluminum engine mount bushings
This refers to US A&P's & A/I's only: According to my PMI C-180 aluminum bushings can be substituted and log book sign off used. It's not a major alteration and doesn't impact the airworthiness in a negative way. Manufacturing of a bushing is NOT legal. There are many "Used" bushin...

Re: I need some tire guidance.
It depends, some of the 8'50 tire manufacturers changed the sidewall design and now don't need spacers. I can't remember who.

Re: I need some tire guidance.
Early on, when big tires were being mounted on Cleveland wheels there were 1/4 inch spacers (after market) available that went between the wheel and the brake disc.(Single and double puck brakes) This eliminated the rub issue. Longer wheel thru bolts where required. STC and Field approvals were used...

Re: Broken step.
As Bruce sez, finding the correct tubing is hard as the "New " stuff is 4130 and differing dimensions. You might have to get two new ones that match made or go on line looking such as Barnstormers.com place an add.

Re: Pulley replacemen
In a word, NO. There are not only pulleys involved but bushings and with the cables under tension it would be impossible to accomplish your task. You might get away with undoing the carry through cable (interconnect). Refer carefully to the IPC as there are differences side to side with the stacking...

Re: Minor or major That is the question!
Having just viewed the "Cessna" video they have brought to light some of the issues you would come up against with this issue. The ones that most impact major/minor that cause me grief are the outdated part 43 and FISDO interpretations even with the guidance manual in hand. It really helps...

WOW George, that seems pretty high. I'm doing the wrong modsgahorn wrote:Putting 175 tanks into 170 wings will cost about $4.5K or more if you pay someone to do it.

Re: C-175 wings on Barnstormers
A cheep way to salvage the "Long Range" tank components and install in your wings. They are the exact same structure. (See IPC for 172/175) Could be done while on the plane.

Didn't hear about that one. Now it's something like 1400lb (Sport pilot)
Hope it goes through. Are there any petitions out there?

Re: Could your airplane be a PNC?
We still need to get the gross weight for the "New 3rd class" upped to 2200lbs for C-170's to quality (Which I'm all for)!
