Yes on the beacon. I also carry one of these in all my vehicles which will not only energize my alternator but will also start the engine (no propping required). I also have a external power receptacle which makes it very easy but you can also attach directly to battery.

My plane has a Ford alternator installed with a field approval using an early C-172 wiring diagram as an example that was duplicated. I got rid of my Bracket and installed a Donaldson filter which is also reusable (up to 500 hours). I found the Bracket collects a lot of junk on the filter due to the sticky foam, especially if you fly onto dirt strips.

Speaking of compasses, one of our local airports (Hollister-KCVH) actually hired a survey team and realigned and repainted an old compass rose that was probably from WWII. I don't think I've ever seen one of the old compass roses redone.

SE looks better to me as well. You've got a nice highway (361) right off the end of the runway and a nice beach just beyond that.
