Headliners

Does anyone have any experience with installing a headliner? Is this something that can be attempted by mere mortals or should this be done by a pro?

Williams Aviation

Spoke with Johnny Williams today, very nice fellow and very helpful. They are indeed for the later Cessna wheel fairings (152,172,182). He also said they would not work with original 170 fairings. I also asked if they would work with any of the fiberglass replicas, but he didn't know.

Wheel Fairings

Acompany called Williams Aircraft Co. advertises various 170 parts made under FAA-PMA in "The 170 News". They list mounting plates for 0541203 and 0541185 wheeel fairings. Since the 170 wheel fairings are part no. 0441143, does anyone know what wheel fairings they are refering to?

Tip Tanks

Saw these in Trade-a-Plane. Pretty pricey at nearly $4000, but does give you another 2-3 hours of cruise depending on engine.

The May 2002 Flypaper describes a 170 with "an alternator, and the alternator had another accessory drive pad on the back, to which was fitted a vacuum pump. Two accessories driven from one pad, an engine-driven vacuum pump, and an alternator in one slick mod." Does anyone have experience...

Hoog, any update on your gyro problem? I was thinking of installing the new style gyros and a "super venture" (9 in. vacuum available from Aircraft Spruce and maybe Wag-Aero), but maybe I should stick to the old AN style. Let us know how your system works out. Karl

Dale, thanks for the good support. I'll check into an IE upgrade - I probably not go the Netscape route due to problems with some other web sites I use. Karl

Automatic Login

I have been having mixed results with the automatic login feature of this site. It seems to be hit or miss - sometimes it works - sometimes it doesn't. Is anyone else having the same problem or know of a solution, I am already set up to accept "cookies".

Scott says grease'up. I've greased Scott tailwheels for years until I can see clean grease coming out and have never had a problem with shimmy.

Re: removing glue/foam

If I were you, I'd want to beat up the nut that glued carpet down. MEK or some other solvent will remove the zinc chromate primer. Alcohol might work. Have a fire extinguisher handy. (You can't see alcohol-fed flames so be careful.) Do it outside the hangar. Even if you have to touch up the primer,...

Could it be that the Aero-Matic prop requires a dampened crankshaft - I thought that was what the "H" stood for.

Hooker seat belts

It was mentioned on that "other" forum that Hooker was going to come up with some prices for their retractable seat belts at Sun'N'Fun. Did any of you that went happen to talk to them about this?
