Re: Fuel gauge gaskets 1954
Well, it's annual time and I'm taking care of a few problems that have come up since the last one. I've done a bit of research on fuel gauge gaskets here on the forum and it sounds like the gasket to get for a replacement is the Viton type and use Bruce's pattern. But what's interesting is that my o...

Re: Stuck in Prince George
Jim, Sorry it took so long to get you an answer, but it's been busy crazy in our neck of the woods for a long time and I don't see no end for awhile...guess a guy needs to jump in O4D and head north again just to slow things down. But the clouds are here today and the first snow is on the mountain a...

Re: 170 Crash in Oregon
Scott,
Sorry to see your 170 in that shape, but sure as hell glad to see that you two walked away from it. That's for giving us an first person account of the mishap. Again, glad you're both OK and when you get over this way, I'll fly you into Minam and buy you breakfast.
Take Care fellow....

Re: 170 Crash in Oregon
Glad to hear that Scott and his passenger are OK. He's a Wallowa Co. fellow, now living in western Oregon and a good pilot. Sold Scott some tires not to long ago for his 170. He came to a couple of our 170 fly-in's at Minam Lodge several years back. Sure glad he's OK, the plane can be fixed (and it ...

Re: Stuck in Prince George
Just got back to Enterprise after spending the night in Penticton. Sure was nice to hear from Jim and his willingness to help...great bunch of folks in this organization and I've never met hardly anyone...A short and dirty version of my perdiciment was that on my way out of MacKenzie and heading for...

Stuck in Prince George

Re: Tie Down Info
John,
I have several other folks taking our tie downs to Oshkosh, I'd love to hear how they do for you. I'm hoping for real good weather for the event and not a repeat of Fun in the Sun. You are so right that it is not an exact science. Have a great time.

Re: Tie Down Info
In all fairness to Paul and his test on the avweb site, he had used his hoist and had maxed out his dynometer at 1000 lbs using the correct angle and that is when he hooked the pickup to the tiedowns. I agree that is was a bit confusing. In an earlier test video avweb compares the other tie down sys...

Tie Down Info
Just thought I'd let the membership know about an article about tie downs in the July issue of Aviation Consumer and also on their on line magazine, avweb.com concerning our tie down systems. We spent quit abit of time last year testing our tie downs with our competition in Oregon and Idaho, but, as...

Re: Tornado at Sun-n-Fun
It's a shame what just took place at Sun-n-Fun and I feel for those folks who lost some beautiful aircraft. I agree with both busav8or I think it was largely a matter of luck in where your plane happened to be when the storm hit. and flat country In a storm this big and bad, concrete in the ground m...

Re: Amp Meter Flutters
Mark, I feel your pain, heck I still have scars on my belly from crawling around in 04D chasing wires. Looking back on my experience I think that remounting the voltage regulator (taking if off and putting it back on the firewall) may have been part of the success to the end of our story as today sh...

# of Landing on a set of Tires
This is just for information for you folks who may get some mileage out of numbers...I put on a set of Goodyear 8.00x6 Flight Special II Tires (8-ply) on 04D in March of 2005 and just replaced them a few days ago with the same tire but in a 6-ply rating. I'm going to guess that 70% of the landing we...
