Re: Bent tailwheel steering arm
Does the chain guard just attach directly to the bottom of the shackle? I don't seem to have one either?

I might be late to the conversation but why bother with a placard?

Some flying pics from this Saturday
Went out to a few strips on Saturday with Rob (yellow 170) and a friend in a Rans s-7s. The first strip was a guy's 1000ft grass front lawn. He also has a 180. The second strip is 1600ft uphill cut into a mountain above Napa Valley. Rob took most of the pics http://www.backcountrypilot.org/gallery/a...

Re: Taxes and tax breaks for part time instruction
I use a broker out of Maryland, John Harden with www.air-pros.com
I have the standard 1 million liability/100k per person medical with 40k hull.
It started about 1300 bucks 8 years a ago and has been going down every year since.
I think Chartis is the underwriter.

Re: Taxes and tax breaks for part time instruction
Its actually 76 bucks. 10% of my 760 dollar insurance premium. Limits to 2 students per year. I have to be in the airplane at all times, ie no rental or solo. Initial correspondence with the tax lady looks promising. She thought I could save some on the taxes. I am going to bring some sample numbers...

Re: Ever Google your N#?
I googled my N number a few years back and found this great photo of me landing at SAC. I emailed the guy and have since given him a few rides. He is an avid aviation photographer.

Re: Taxes and tax breaks for part time instruction
Insurance for the 170 looks to only be 80 bucks a year more. That covers 2 students per year in the plane. Realistically that is all I would do. CFI insurance looks to be around 900 a year. That gives me a million in liability and 30 grand in hull coverage on the other persons airplane. Looking at t...

Fly out west and we can show you plenty of warm weather spots you can fly to now.

Taxes and tax breaks for part time instruction
We are running short of friendly CFI's at our airport and a bunch of friends are asking for Flight Reviews, Instrument profficiency, multi, and tailwheel instruction. I have given a few flight reviews in the past but I am now thinking I will need some CFI insurance. My questions are 1. Would it be w...

Re: Pushrod tube swage or flaring tool?
Annual done. Leg good enough to fly. Too cold and lazy to wash and leak check engine. Appears like less oil leakage but at this point who cares because there was nothing else I was willing to do. I'm not going to pour more money into these oil leaks, at least this year. It was great to actually fly ...

Re: wood spar in 170?
I had a warp in the wing. Now it does pretty good. Keep it as light as possible and avoid anything that adds weight to the tail. I made a one piece removable wing to give me access to the receiver and easy transport.

Re: wood spar in 170?
I think I put too much dihedral in. Better safe than sorry. It actually has struts and fairings to cover the gear but I take them off for flight.

Re: Pushrod tube swage or flaring tool?
I think that is what we have. Some sort of white stuff that sprays on the engine and looks like powder.
