Re: Uavionics TailbeaconX

As further mention, Karl Towle adds comments regarding the actual control of the txdr function being limited to only certain controllers. Hope this helps. Yes, if you buy a TailBeaconX you must also buy a uAvionics AV-30-C display to control the transponder function - $4200 for both. I am not sure ...

Re: Uavionics TailbeaconX

My comment was not meant to criticize you or Karl, as the secretary for a glider club I know how errors can and do get into minutes. I was only pointing out the there is a difference between the TailBeacon and TailbeaconX and point out the discrepancy in a document that was sent to the entire member...

Uavionics TailbeaconX

Just received the latest 170 News Quarterly and under the Parts/Maintenanve Report they refer to the new uAvionics Tailbeacon. The one describe is actually the TailbeaconX, just wanted to make sure no one got the wrong one- they are very different.

Re: Hangar Insurance

Are you sure they want separate insurance for your hangar? Most airports want proof of insurance for your aircraft with one million liability coverage.

Re: BAS Shoulder Belts in 170A

My understanding is that the holes required for the BAS retractor are forward of U channel not above it?? Karl, BAS installation requires the one nut plate IN the rear spar carrythrough, and two screws through the roof just forward (or behind?) of that. The rub comes when the carrythrough doesn’t a...

Re: BAS Shoulder Belts in 170A

I don't see why there is so much concern about drilling holes in the roof. If you hadn't noticed these aircraft come with LOTS of holes drilled in the roof, you just have to fill them up with something (rivet, bolt, etc,) and everything's fine. I just don’t want holes above a U shaped piece of stru...

Re: Continental Mags: Are they junk?

Yep, chocolate and vanilla, to each his own. But replacing factory Slicks every 500 hours for half the money compared to field rebuilt Bendix makes sense to me. I agree. I may also consider a electronic mag if one ever gets approved for the O-300. With no moving parts and a 2400 hour TBO they may b...

Thanks Miles, just in time. I was just going to order something similar from Aircraft Tool Supply but yours seems to have more capabilities.

Re: Oil Pressure and Temperature Range

Same here, 55 psi for 650+ hours since overhaul. Interesting the 300 D and E are good to 60 psi vs. 45 psi for the other O-300/C-145.
