That's a resistor, not a capacitor.

Re: Fuel Gauges

Why is this even a topic of discussion? It's illogical to read CAR3 as saying the gauges must be accurate at zero usable but are allowed to be arbitrarily inaccurate at any other fuel quantity. What IA would sign off an airplane whose fuel gauges were stuck at E, saying they meet CAR3? If accuracy i...

Re: 3200 Scotts Tail holds the break to the left but not the right. Help.

I watched the video and spoke by email to acecabral. The tailwheel locks and releases to one side, but free swivels to the other.

I suggested looking at how the wing-shaped spring (18) fits into the notches in the control arm (8).

Any other suggestions or insight?

Re: LH Cowling Door (1955-)

Here’s the door. It has no Hartwell latches, so I’ll also send a RH door that has latches you can swap. The door is painted in Krylon white. Let me know if you want these. If you’re not currently an Association member, please consider joining, since these doors are worth more than the price of a mem...

Re: LH Cowling Door (1955-)

I once installed a used cowl door that fit remarkably well. You wouldn't do it as permanent repair because used doors will have all the wear and damage that you're looking to get rid of. But if your door is not airworthy and you need to buy time while you fabricate a new one, don't be afraid to try ...

Re: Elevator Balance

I’d balance it close to the 23 in-lb end of the spec to give the painters the most weight to work with. That’s my plan with my out-of-balance rudder.

Re: 2 1/4" instruments on the stationary sub panel

I also used a hole saw to enlarge a 2-1/16" to 2-1/4". With a 2-1/4" hole saw, drill holes in 3/4" plywood, leaving the plugs in the saw cup. The Lenox brand hole saw I used made plugs of 2-1/16" OD, which fit neatly into the hole to be enlarged. When the plug extends beyond...

Re: Future 170 Caretaker!

WOW 20 thousand feet . do you have an internal o2 system. . So what was the handling like at that altitude . How long did it take to get there ? That could be a record for a 170 . I didn't record data so I don't know how long it took to get to 20k, but I know the last 1000 feet took a very long tim...

Re: Future 170 Caretaker!

MT MTV-15-B/210-58 on a Lycoming O-360-A1A. I love it. Probably the best money I've ever spent on an airplane. It has made every flight better and safer. - Greatly improved climb, especially at high density altitude. With two aboard I once flew the airplane to FL200. - No more RPM limitation. I can ...

We’ll see you there next year, George!

It was great to meet all the 170 owners and see their airplanes.
