Re: 1948 Rag Wing Inspection Holes

If anyone has a 48, can you post a picture of the rear trailing edge strut area (lower wing skin) where it connects to the wing rear spar and the aileron bell crank inspection holes (lower skin). I can take pictures or measurements you need. Please email me at fly170 at gmail.com as it will be easi...

Re: HIGH,HIGH OIL TEMP!!

What dimension of the lip is being measured, the entire lip or just the portion that is angled down and exposed? I can measure when I get back to the hangar, but want to make sure I am measuring the correct portion of the lip. 1948 170, S# 18118. Just the lip that hangs down. Should be either appro...

Re: HIGH,HIGH OIL TEMP!!

I suspect the 3 inch lip was actually added to the 1948 after production started maybe due to cooling issues. My 48 S/N 18608 has the 3 inch lip. However my project S/N 18041 has a short approx 3/4 inch lip. It appears to be original and no damage recorded that would make me think it was changed. I ...

AN884 should be similar to 306 hose.
If you google AN884 and pull up WIck's ad they reference 306.

Re: L-19 Leaf spring installation

I've found wetting the PPonk bolts with MMO increases tensile strength.
If MMO was green and not red then the modulus of elasticity would be greatly reduced!
