Re: Info needed for Ordering Glass and Controll Cables

Re: Franklin Aerospace

Robert has been up to our airstrip to pick up a engine. He is very good with the Franklins. We are fortunate to have a reputable person doing overhauls and cylinder work. This can be nothing but good for him.

Re: Franklin Aerospace

They are good engines. Hopefully we will see some parts start to be made. Pistons, valves, cranks. On another subject David. I am in a aviators group in Richmond. We get together once a month to tell jokes and lies. I was talking to Len Bottoms. If that is his 170 you have he raved what a nice plane...

Franklin Aerospace

Things are looking hopeful. The website is up and running. They have ALOT of NOS parts. The 170 would be great with a smooth running 180 hp Franklin or even the 165. I am sure the nay sayers will chime in, but its a start. To all the Stinson owners flying behind Franklin Engines, this is to announce...

Re: To primer or leave bare aluminum, that is the question

http://www.wogers.net/ I am getting ready to try this on my fuselage. I have talked to Jim Russell at Russell Refinishing located in Delaware. He said best to spray on a even coat. A heavy coat is just wasting material. He will spray on in the afternoon and pressure wash off in the morning. Also 75 ...

Re: Old Radium Aircraft Instruments

I have read the same story of the children in the dump, but what I read, it wasn't in the USA. Good luck with you mission. I am lucky to not have any of those instruments. :D

George
Another option is if you know someone flying private or driving to Oshkosh, have them take them to the fly market. Put a low price on them for beer money.

Re: Old Radium Aircraft Instruments

I just talked to Keystone. They will work on them if they have to BUT it is expensive. Removal and disposal of the paint is the biggie. As far as shipping if it gets by the PO that is the first test. They must scan all packages. If you dispose of them they must be encased in a fabricated lead sheet ...

Re: Old Radium Aircraft Instruments

I was under the understanding Keystone was one of the few shops to work on the older instruments. I have sent some of mine back to them and no problem. I might be mistaken. Call and talk to Pam or Ken to know for sure.

Re: Fuel

The argument is with BOTH types of Mogas. Some in the club have been against non ethanol for years. Which is fine. My experience with using it has been no lead fouling of the plugs and no stuck valves. We are lucky being by the water and marinas, so we have access to non ethanol, which I test every ...

Re: Fuel

I do not understand if Mogas is so harmful to aircraft, why is it sold at approx. 200 airports in the country. Do they not understand the liability issues. I do not remember signing a waiver when filling up. I am sure George and associates have had some bad experiences. But I think for the majority ...

I read Georges last post and this is what I got from it-
the use of non-ethanol gas is probably OK
