Ice landing @7ma2

Finally got to land at my place this winter. 12" of VERY slick ice (and howling winds 8O ) was like landing with crosswind gear (I think... :?: ). Had to add power for rudder control. It slid sideways then backwards, so I gave it another blast of power to stop it! I don't recommend this u...

Re: Dog lovers

It's snowin' like crazy up here in New England, and the snow banks are high and the roads narrow.

I've edited this post to remove what I said.
I had seen negligence today that cost a good dog his future.

Take care of your pets...

Re: Alton Bay?

I'm (7MA2) a little over 100 miles south of Alton Bay and the ice is 8" thick. Unfortunately, there is over 8" of snow on top. :? So landing with wheels, like we usually do in early Feb., is out of the question. :( Skis only.
But who knows? This is New England. Things change! 8O

Blueldr,
Thanks for the correction!!! (I edited that last post)

And my gauges are probably as old as the plane! I really don't rely on them, but they are good references!

Re: New member

Welcome aboard :) Having owned my 120 for 30+ years before I bought a '56 172 tailwheel, I right away missed the tight-turning I did so regularly! 8O But I'm happy with this upgrade  So much more room and very stable in windy conditions. Well worth the little extra in fuel consumption. I've pi...

Re: Extending the flaps (or retracting) in a turn

Good point (confession) Bruce! NO ONE IS PERFECT :!: We always need to FLY THE PLANE regardless... Back to the flaps, I pull 1 notch on downwind, second during the turn from downwind to base, then, if I feel it necessary, 3rd notch on final. I guess after flying my C-120 for so many years, I never d...

Re: My Guardian Angel..

I can kind of relate to that. I left Disney World in our motorhome with my young family (4 kids and my wife) about 2:00AM to watch the Challenger lift off. Driving across the 'B' line, there was a car behind me that couldn't get past me quick enough. Finally he did and I watched his tail lights fade...

Re: Cockpit Intercept Procedures Card

I know I have a copy somewhere in the plane, but I down-loaded this one, printed it out, and it fits nicely in my log book.
In the 'heat of the moment' 8O , I'm sure I'll find one of them... Thanks

Re: Should Public Servants be Served?

For a guy that has been so active in GA, there is no excuse for landing on the closed runway. He may be a great guy, but he should be held accountable for his actions just like everyone else.
