Miles, I'm sure glad that 98C is looking better than it did when I took this picture of it at the Creve Coeur Convention.

There comes a time ....
After 32 years of ownership and flying 1493D, our C-170A, and after numerous medical issues, it became evident that I would never qualify for an airman’s medical again. As 93 Delta was like part of the family, I couldn’t imagine ever selling her, so consequently, she was sitting in my hangar seldom ...

Re: Lemon Pledge
I've been using Lemon Pledge (or Dollar General's cheap substitute) on windshield, side windows and leading edges on our C170A 1493D since we bought the plane 25+ years ago (per the previous owner's advise.) By doing this after every flight, bugs wipe off easily each time. Lanny

Re: OT Syma Remote Control Helicopter
Thanks for posting the link, Kyle. I've been having a blast with mine while our 170 is down for annual. At last count, there's been about a dozen family and friends that have ordered theirs after "test flying" mine. Lanny

Re: OT Syma Remote Control Helicopter
Just received my Syma S-107G from Amazon today. Our 7-yr. old granddaughter received one for Christmas and I had so much fun with it, I had to get one for myself.

Buried a long-time friend today
Today I attended the funeral of a long-time friend, and a lot of aircraft and engine knowledge went to grave with him. I'm sure some members that have worked with Teledyne Continental have crossed paths with Bob Moseley (a.k.a. Mose). For a number of years he was Factory Field Technical Representati...

To all. Update on Sharon: Things seem to be improving. Reduced the pain meds. Walked several hundred feet today SLOWLY. Will be in hospital more days numerous tubes and wires and no food or drink til a suction tube is pulled out of her stomach (powered by a venturi, I think. :D) Bruce, re. the descr...

Re: Plans can change quickly
George - we spent some time with you at the last Petit Jean fly-in (we made the curly potato chips). Joe - I'll probably wait to give up my parking spot until all options are exhausted. I'll let you know if I for sure am not able to go and I'm giving up the space. Del - I'd like to know more about y...

Plans can change quickly
I reserved a parking spot at AirVenture Oshkosh and was looking forward to camping with the group again in 2011. (28 consecutive years) However, my wife, Sharon, was attacked by a hacked off old cow while we were working the herd on June 22nd. Broken femur, 4 broken ribs, 4 shattered ribs. After ins...

1:00 pm in Jeff City, MO - 9" snow on the ground and the TV weatherman says we have another 9-15" on the way. Going to really test the structure of our new hangar. Wind is blowing 15 mph. Looking for 40+ mph this evening and tonight. Weatherman says it's the first time the official term &q...

Re: Camping with your plane
All the previous suggestions have been great. Amazed that Steve's list is almost identical to mine. I've camped at Oshkosh for the last 27 years and each year have tweaked my list. One thing I've found very useful is a silver poly tarp that I drape over the right wing and stake down (make sure to ta...

Unique Lindbergh videos
This just came in from a friend. It is fascinating! Be sure to click on CONTACT (on the left of the screen) to start Episode #1 in the series as he instructs. Great videos! W--we are very proud of Brooks and Kris. He will be studying Christian music and she is a graphic artist and is hoping to work part-time down under and also work for clients in the US via the Internet. The kids got me a Webcam and my wife a Macbook Pro with wireless router for Christmas, and the Sky...

Re: Life Is Good, 170 style
Weather wasn't great yesterday for flying, but it was our only opportunity to fly with our youngest son and his wife before they move to Sydney, Australia on Jan. 11 where he will be going to school for two years. I've never felt the urgency to fly with our kids since they've always been close by an...

Re: Oshkosh Parking
I'm planning on going to Oshkosh on Saturday, the 25th (this will be my 26th consecutive year), but for the first time in years, I'm going to leave our 170 at home and ride up with a friend and stay in his camper trailer instead of camping with the plane. Hope to get together with some association m...
