Re: $100 Hamburger NORTH CENTRAL (ND,NE,SD,MN,IA)

Voyager - 10nm NE of Siren, Wisconsin. NE/SW paved strip with parking area off the SE end of the airstrip. Walk a short 1/4 mi. around the SW end of the strip to the clubhouse at the golf course. Sunday brunch is great or you can order of the menu. If you have time, bring the clubs and spend some ti...

Re: 76" prop on a 180HP

I've heard about the 80" prop blades for my Hartzel, but do not know anything else about them. Does anyone have experience/knowledge about this prop, ground clearance, performance, etc? I'd like to know more.

Re: Scott 3200 tailwheel problem

Since this website is for the education of all, I feel it my duty to reveal my findings on the Scott 3200 tailwheel issue. I was entering the grounds of the airport on the way to waste some time in my hanger when jrenwick (of this site fame) passed me and immediately wheeled around to have a ...

Scott 3200 tailwheel problem

Since many of you probably have a Scott tailwheel, I'm looking for some help from owners familiar with adjusting the Scott tailwheel. I recently removed and replaced many old and worn parts in my tailwheel including the spring and pawl. I am having difficulty adjusting my newly rebuilt tailwheel to ...

Re: 7MA2 Ice Party

My friends and I do a lot of ski flying in winter and I use the lakes frequently. I generally like to see 8 inches of "Good" ice before I venture out onto most lakes. By good ice, I mean clear, solid ice. If the ice is layered with snow, slush or any other things to compromise the strength...

Ski Flying Help Needed

Hey you ski flyers out there! I'm very short on ski flying experience, and I'm having a little trouble with getting turned around in the width of the grass strip (about 50'). The locals have been coaching me about stick forward, full aileron, blast of power to move the tail, etc. I still have to get...

Kelly, Sorry * to hear of your plight. :x It reminds me of the constant impulse some people have to prevent others from having a good time! It also brings to the front the steady assault on our freedoms. The recent change in direction of field approvals is just the most recent chapter in a lo...

Good thought JD, but I don't think the CG would move much because the battery and box doesn't weigh enough to make a big difference.

In fact, I just plugged it into the W&B spreadsheet and the CG moved to the rear 2 tenths of one inch!

Thanks George, The guy I bought the airplane from carried a 5 Gal. water jug around in the aft cargo area "to make it fly better". The only problem was that it took up half of my cargo space. I have a couple of gear boxes with stuff I need in them, but they don't weigh that much. In winter...

Joe, I've heard that old addage before. If it's true, then it's not good that I'm "working my tail off" to stay level. I should load up the aft cargo and have the passengers sit in the back! I have four cast iron counterweights for the garden tractor that weigh 20 KG (44lbs.) each. I...

Weight, Balance, and IAS?

This is a question for anyone who has a thought on the subject. :D George, I'd really like to hear your thoughts on this. My question is this...How much is your IAS affected by the location of the CG during flight? The reason for the question is this...I have the O-360 conversion w C/S prop so my Em...

Vic, That's all I used to get with mine too. I think there is a general concensus that these engines just don't produce enough heat. I think the engines produce just as much heat as any other engine. It's the dewlivery system that is inefficient (read non-existant). Try this...take off your sh...

Bruce, Sounds like a plan. I think, as in my case, the key is volume. Those little "dribblers" (1 1/2" vents) just don't do much. You have to find a way to get volume. Heck, with even a normal amount of infiltration through door seals, wing roots, etc, they don't hardly break even! :c...

Winterization

Bruce, I'd be happy to. :D Seems like this thread will do fine since it's pretty short. Hope my solution won't be too long, but it took a while to come up with a plan. Here goes... but first the disclaimer  This work comes under the category of minor modifications! First, I have the Lyc O-360 ...

Winterizing kit

Your comments are right on the mark, Ken. I used duck tape liberally during last season...adding and subtracting as necessary. With a close eye on operating temps, especially oil temp at cruise, I was able to come up with a good idea of just how much restriction I needed. There is a huge difference ...
